If Boise or Louisville get into the BCS games...

Teams from the league we are leaving or going to, do we get anything? I think the answer regarding the WAC is no and the CUSA is maybe some residual in coming years. Is that correct or does anyone know the answer?

The short answer is that SMU, Rice, UTEP and Tulsa will take it in the shorts. Not only that but UTEP will probably play in a bowl and not get to keep any of the money. We don't get CUSA money either. The good news of course is that TCU gets it, too. No CUSA money and no MWC money.

the last thing I read was that the bowl games most teams get amount to ZERO revenue sharing, because the games pay only $750k and the teams get to keep 100% of the 1st $750. That may be wrong, but I recall reading that about the WAC years ago. BCS money is an entirely different scenario and I'm sure some of that money goes into the conference revenue sharing pool. Not sure how that works because the non-BCS goup really hasn't had to worry about that issue. Utah may change that and if USM can upset Cal and A$M beats Texas, I wonder if the Fiesta would take a chance on a Boise vs Utah matchup?

Meanwhile, a reality check on the BCS standings. Right now, both Cal and Texas are ranked ahead of Utah. NBoth Cal & Texas are at large teams. That means the ACC, Big East and Big Ten teams all get automatic bids ahead of Utah and Utah will have to be chosen over two BCS programs ranked ahead of them in the BCS poll. This could get veery interesting, since any non-BCS program finishing in the top 6 is suppose to get in. I don't think the big boys ever anticipated this could happen when they drafted those rules.

I believe the team does keep a certain amount to cover travel expenses, etc., but I thought it was more like 250K, and the rest is shared by the conference. Not really sure though.

Now, assume for a second Auburn loses the SEC title game to Tennessee and USC loses to UCLA but still wins the PAC 10 and only falls to #2 in the BCS. Suppose that puts Oklahoma-USC in the Orange Bowl, Tennessee-Boston College in the Sugar Bowl, Michigan-Miami in the Rose Bowl, and Utah-Boise St. in the Fiesta Bowl. If USC beats Oklahoma (giving each a loss), does the media vote the winner of Utah-Boise St. national champ?

Yes, I think the BCS conferences never expected even one to get in but two? It is their arrogance that has blinded them and does raise the real possibility of the need for a play-off, to be fair.

Notice that nobody is raising the issue about how more lowly teams from the Big-10 and especially Big-East are pushing more deserving teams out.

This is next to impossible, but what would happen if Utah, Boise St, and Louisville ended the regular season ranked 4,5, and 6 in the BCS?

Assuming the top 3 remain as they are now, #4 and #5 would get in and #6 would be out.

that is not the way the bowl system works - if Utah finishes 6th they get an automatic selection as an at-large non-BCS team - Cal would then get an at-large bid as the highest ranked BCS team that did not win their conference - that is dwhy texas doesn't get a bid - if texas gets beat by A&M and Utah moves to 5 and Boise moves to 6 then Cal loses out its at-lage bid in favor of Boise State since it is a non-BCS team

"Boise State plays at Nevada on Saturday, and the Broncos have struggled in nearly every road game this season, including the overtime victory over San Jose State two weeks ago. That win kept Boise State alive in the BCS chase, and if Boise State lands one of those eight BCS berths, San Jose State figures to be $2 million richer. A berth in a BCS game is worth about $14.5 million, and, after about $2 million is taken off the top for expenses, the rest would be split evenly among the six current Western Athletic Conference members that will still be in the WAC next season."

I would love to see Louisville, Utah or even Boise play Texas. Don't know who would win, but I bet they'd all be entertaining games. And I don't know that UT would whip any of them.

If UT fans really want to change the system they need to look at removing the auto for the BE. That is what is messing things up for them.
