However, they can still automatically qualify by ranking 13-16 as the highest ranked non-AQ champion if they rank ahead of an AQ qualifying champion. Since no Big East team is ranked in the Top 25 currently if Houston were to either lost their last regular season game and drop below TCU or lost the C-USA Championship and TCU wins out, they should climb from #19 to inside the Top 16 and automatically qualify.
Sorry to burst the frogs' collective bubble, but TCU's reward for beating a bad team this week was to move down to #20 in the BCS. They won't get any help from their last game either, against an even worse UNLV team.
TCU will need a lot of help to get into the top 16.
Honestly, nothing against him, but I have zero interest in meeting him. If you guys would just stop quoting him, I would never have to read his insulting BS. Life is too short and there are too many good Mustang fans to hang with to worry about him.[/quote]
Go crawl back under your rock Stallion/scum. You have anything else to say ...you can say it to me personally. I will be at 33 on Saturday...come on by.

I may be way off here, but I thought there are only four open spots. 1 will go to the SEC, 1 to the Big 12 (if nothing else, K-State), 1 to PAC (Oregon). That leaves 1 open spot. I thought that would be a race between top Non-AQ’s (Houston and TCU), #2 from Big 10, ACC, and Big East. With four Big 10 schools ahead of TCU, three should stay above them (and have a #2 ahead of TCU). There's also the small matter of Houston. Clem and G Tech could also finish higher than TCU with big wins (Clem already is ahead of them).
So unless I’m missing a piece (which is very likely) Houston would have to lose twice, all of the #2 Big 10 schools have to lose, and Clemson and G Tech have to lose. Not to mention, the polls are punishing them and sliding them down. I'm obvsiously missing something as all of the toads seem to be so excited (I've received 4 texts from "friends").
There is a rule that says that if a non-AQ conference champion finishes in the top 16 and ahead of an AQ conference champion, then they earn an automatic bid. They key there is that they have to be a conference champion. If Houston loses either against Tulsa or in the championship game, they wouldn't be CUSA champs, so TCU would be the highest non-AQ conference champion (even though Boise and UH would be ranked higher). However, it's not likely that TCU will climb into the top 16, so it probably doesn't matter.

Why does there always have to be a hypothetical grudge match at 33 ?

Ok at 35 then. He won't come anyway. I left him a pm, as this shouldn't be on a public board...he started this crap.

Ponyscott! If you tell him where we are, he might actually stop by and "visit"!
All joking aside, the fact that I need to "foe" him results in my loss. For a guy like me, that isn't real familiar with football recruiting, his posts can be great perspective. However, I'm not going to be constantly insulted by anyone...other than my wife, of course! I think he and I just have very different perspectives on SMU and those perspectives flush out on PF. He can stay in his corner, and I'll stay in mine. Please just don't come to #39 on Saturday.
Cox, he won't come anywhere near me...my bad for getting drawn in to his BS---I left him a pm.....

You may be my new best friend...a giant Stallion citronella candle.
lol...we may all disagree on here from time to time as we all have egos and opinions and we all know that posts are sometimes taken out out context in its written form, but direct personal attacks are not called for on a board like this.......and especially over our bowl preferences???....who cares? as if we have any input in that decision at the end of the day.
Boise State can still automatically qualify without winning their league. Their currently 7th in the BCS. Any team that can finish 3rd or 4th in the BCS gets an automatic at-large bid regardless of whether or not they won their conference. Arkansas(3rd), Oklahoma State(4th), Virginia Tech(5th), and Stanford(6th) all have losable games remaining. So if 3 of those 4 lose it's conceivable that they slide up 3 spots. They could get leaped by some teams ranked behind them, but they are currently ranked ahead of all AQ teams with 2 loses.
