Re: Monday Luncheon?
Anyone who says that difficult questions aren't asked doesn't go to all of the luncheons. If you go to one luncheon and don't hear a particular question, it is probably because it has already been asked.
JJ answers all of the questions. Yes, he protects his players and doesn't throw them under the bus. But, you can tell whats upif you listen to everything he says. For example, quesiton: is JJ McD hurt? Answer: No, he is fine. He has to say that, for the same reason he can't talk about the Line injury specifics until after a game or after he is out for the season, but then later in the lunch he will make a point of saying that JJ McD hasn't practiced in two weeks. So, you get the gist.
You would also know why none of the other QBs have played, that yes, Jones and the staff hav thought about it in great detail.
This wasn't said at the luncheon, so I can go ahead and put it out there: The reason why Kaiser hasn't played is because if you put Kaiser in the game against Houston, he will throw three early pics and we get killed. C Preston is more of a discussion point for playing time than Kaiser, but he isn't ready yet either.
Sometimes you just have to look at the thing and realize that with KP and JJ MCD hurt, we don't have any viable QBs on the roster. Jones answered why we don't have a JUCO QB while the kids grow up. And Freshmen aren't good for the offense. KP his first year was an exception, not the rule. It takes time to learn, and Kaiser might as well be a true freshman with his lack of practice time last year.
Instead of lighting into JJ McD for his crappy play, which he and everyone else knows is bad, it might be better to realize that the kid is fighting through everything to do what is best for the team.

Re: Monday Luncheon?
I have personally asked him at a luncheon whether his offense was so overly complicated that it could not be run correctly except by a special quarterback that only comes along very rarely. I am pretty sure he considered it a tough question.

When I come to Dallas (once a year) I always plan my schedule so that I can attend a couple of luncheons. I have never heard anybody ask any really penetrating or difficult questions. Actually, I prefer to listen to Mason and Morrison as they explain more and are also rather funny at times. JMHO

He's a grad student at Cox and has said as such several times on here. He could find a way to cross i75 for lunch. He'd rather tell everyone else on here what questions to ask.
I thought it was kind far North? Also thats when I have class. Believe me I wish I could go to this. If I went, I would ask those questions (hopefully I wont have to ask them next year and the following). Im glad June is doing them, and he kind of has to at this point, since people are frustrated with losing to teams that we know we can beat.
With him not throwing, I agree he can throw a few good ones, but at least for the home games where Im up close. I remember seeing passes either very low or high (not because he had to) where the receivers had to do acrobatic stunts (not as extreme). I also remember one of his horizontal passes (the many) to Zach and it was a perfect thrown ball but he dropped it. So I know he can throw, but its extremely infrequent and when they get caught most of its because of the receivers. Which by the way, our young receivers look promising, also the new recruits.

So, even when McD was healthy, in the TCU game for instance, our WR had to make great grabs. His accuracy just isn't that great from the beginning.
When it came to McD versus KP at the start of the season, Jones had choose between not very accurate, but no sacks or interceptions versus a little bit more accurate, but more negative plays. So he stuck with McD.
Now McD is hurt, so it has gone from inaccurate requiring great catches to way inaccurate. Plus the WR are banged up and can't make the great catches all the time. So now, Jones has to choose between inaccurate with sacks versus tons of interceptions. Not a great choice to make in either direction, but he is going with the prior.

See those interceptions Padron threw were against A&M, and yes it sucks he threw them. I mean McD came out and did well because of the mentality that no matter how bad I do I have the saying I havent played at all. To me that worked for him til people believed hes ready and experience and needs to continue to perform. I think Padron only need to get kicked out of the A&M game, but should of been put in like UT does with their 2 QBs. Had Padron thought he could play this year, he probably would have been more careful with his injuries.
Also who are you referring to ton of interception? I believe McD has more interceptions per game than Padron has.

Monday Luncheon?
I think the only thing that makes sense is Jones wanted to let McD play his senior year, get 7 or 8 wins, get Padron "injured" to develop another year with med redshirt, abx have as many QB options as possible when we join BE, so Jones can go undefeated and play national championship, making him the all-time god of turnaround coaching

Kaiser has to be able to play in a simplified offensive system if Kyle and JJ are both injured and incapable making basic check down throws. To trot out JJ when he is skipping 7 yard throws is embarrassing for everyone. If no such thing exists for Kaiser, that's on June.

How did Houston do last year when all of their QBs were hurt and they had to play a freshman? Our skill position players aren't good enough yet to make up for a void at QB... Houston's are much better and they didn't even get to a bowl last year.
Sometimes the answer is just that injuries suck and we aren't quite there with depth yet.
The ton of interceptions comment before was that if Kaiser played against Houston, we would have thrown three picks in the first half and gotten destroyed. He isn't ready. He isn't in the same position Kyle was his freshman year. Last year was a wash for him because he couldn't even practice, so this is like his freshman season.
Kyle Padron having so much success his freshman year was an exception, not the rule, in a pass-based offense. And don't forget that he could put the ball in the hands of Sanders and McNeal and they could each make something out of absolutely nothing. We don't have playmakers like that who are ready yet. There are guys like that redshirting right now and coming in next year, but we just aren't there yet.

Another thing, KP is absolutely, 100% injured. Jones would have loved to play Padron during the Southern Miss game if he was available.
Re: Monday Luncheon?
yeah, he's hurt bad.
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

Curious as to what caused June to say that McDermott was "NFL caliber"?
