that's how the coaching search game works. no coach ever talks directly to the university. it protects them in their negotiations and in situations like that, and it protects the university if they get rejected.
there are go-betweens. usually agents or attorneys.
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

I did a little SMU bowl history research and it appears so, although I did leave off the Dixie Bowl in 1924. Of course the reason for the 16% in the last two is because there were far less bowls back in the day. I'm pretty sure we would not have been invited to any bowl pre-1985 with our 2009 & 2010 records.
SMU-12 NCAA appearances, 1 Final Four
2014-15 & 2016-17 AAC Men's Basketball Champs

ok, so add the dixie bowl. 15%. it will be 21.4% after this year. that's pretty good i'd say. and you're right, there's cause for an asterisk, but so what. it's just funny to me how everyone's whining about playing in this bowl or that bowl. when it's not like we're Nebraska or someone who plays in a bowl 90% of the time.

I think we might have a new Ohio Michigan War on our hands. I already hate him. Funny thing is I used to like him hammering his new school. Spielman.... I love him as a Detroit Lion but I bet he was in on this.... Good. speaking as a Hoke-amaniac.

Bring it on you sonsabitches.
Meyer never said that he had no contact. He said that he had no job offer or contract offer.

how miserable for all the SMU fans throughout the years having to see their team play at the cotton bowl at their home field in their home town. sheesh.

Actually, I liked the Cotton Bowl before they enclosed both end zones to keep TU-OU. Now the stadium looks like a {deleted} hole since they enclosed it.
Oh, I know he is going. Just pointing out he is still denying having received an offer just a few moments ago. Bet he has had some very good conversations with his agent though.

C'mon, a bowl invite is a bowl invite. I got it. When there are 36 bowls and only 120 teams, only 40% of the teams in D1 don't get bowl invites. Not quite the same. I'm proud of the fact that SMU has managed to garner an invite in each of the last 3 years, however, the significance of what they earned isn't quite as impressive had the bowl structure remained 20 instead of 36.
