Big East Leadership -- indecisive? unorganized? weak?
Sounds like a lot of a people in this league really don't know how to execute a plan and really shouldn't be in leadership positions.
Unfortunately, SMU appears to be stuck and has to wait for this thing to play out. But if this is the conference you want to go, good luck with stability....
I appreciate what our leadership did but man they have to feel like this effort is paying off with people on the other end who don't give a great sense of confidence.

Good Orlando Sentinal Update on Big East
I certainly wish foe worked in tapatalk
This is all we need to know:
Once the Big East completes expansion, it’s new television contract is projected to earn at least $8-$10 million per school. That’s potentially five times what the current Conference USA schools make under its television agreements.

Does SMU really need 8-10 million that badly?
SMU has great facilities, uber rich alumni, great academics, a PRESIDENTIAL LIBRARY, a world class Art Museum, a top 25 b school, a decent law school, a country clubesque student athletic center, an awesome stadium and is situated on some of the most valuable real estate in Texas. Oh yeah and I think they have a bunch of hots that go there. The only downside are the doucher ex betas that post on message boards.
Id think the endowment alone would generate 8-10 million every 15 days in interest.
But what do I know..Im just a stupid Tulsa Phan from a Sunbelt quality school.
Trey was using the powers of Gamehendge to allow the show to continue, to give the band the strength it needed to help break through this barrier

Re: Good Orlando Sentinal Update on Big East
One good use of the additional funds would be to create a successful marketing team for the Dallas area. I have a friend/employee who attended the Northwestern State game with me and my wife. She is a black woman of around 50 and knows not much about football. She and her date had so much fun that she has since come to two other games bringing her two grandkids and sitting in the end zone (for financial reasons). That made me think of how much of the Dallas market we could be getting if we marketed these types of people who don't even have an SMU connection, but want to come to a safe, fun, wholesome environment for entertainment. At least, that is her view. And mine now.

Great story!!! That should be one of our target markets.
That was one of the many secrets of Russ Potts. Lower the ticket prices to get people in the game. Someone is going to pay for all those Cokes & popcorn! What a novel idea (sarcasm)!
Economics 101 - As our crowds improve, incrementally & very slowly raise our ticket prices.

BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!
For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

That is all for the general university funds, Athletics doesn't get to touch that. Donors step up now and again, pay for our fb head coach and major projects.
That is the problem, people are so misinformed thinking that SMU has so much money for athletics. The AD department has NO MONEY, no marketing dept, no ticket staff. They are running a deficit and are getting funds cut every year from the university. Laid off staff every year. The measley $1.5M or whatever does nothing. On top of the fact our attendance is terrible that doesn't help. Yes, we need the money desperately. We have equestrian for gods sakes - who knows how much those horses cost

Have to agree with the comment above. Thats like Oil companies (rich) doesnt just pass up a great place to drill for the oil that brings in 8x more money. I mean that makes sense right. We need to help SMU and Alumni with not having to have the full burden of this big cost. With the BE we will get marginal cred in the airwaves, and tv, but the revenue is the sweetest part along with the AQ. Now I know dumb tulsa guy (which his posts amuse me sometimes) doesnt realize that CUSA is just inflated 1-AA. I mean wouldnt be surprised if they invited teams from there. People have and always will view CUSA, WAC, MAC.. etc as jokes (weekday college football). BE might get crap for stability or quality, but at least its not hidden away from college football. Hopefully it will ramp up our program to new heights.
The other thing about this article. Most of your comments on here are correct, they are really crappy at strategizing. I mean what they should of done is kept it quiet. Leave it all to rumors not confirmed reports or people blabbing about it. One: it keeps our teams from letting it get to their head.. Two: it keeps us from desperately needing the announcement Three: keeps other conferences from having more opportunity to poach. What the should of done is invite in phases, have the three of us come and give us a clause where if they cant make a west division then decline. So at least it seems like they are doing something. Then move Boise and SDSU. Then Navy and A/F. Then it looks like you are picking up people quick and you have something to offer.
