Offseason workouts

Postby WildHorse » Mon Nov 29, 2004 1:57 pm

There's no doubt that some guys work harder than others in the offseason. There are a few players who I think could make massive strides through extensive offseason work:

- Reynaldo Pellerin: He's a tall WR with good speed and hands, and decent strength. But if he was to add 10 pounds of muscle - very doable with proper lifting and nutrition - I think he could be a Bobby Chase-type of receiver: good wheels, and simply too big and strong for many DBs to handle.

- Avery Cleveland: he has the potential, I think, to be a pretty special player. He's really fast, and he's tough (he's a Gold Gloves boxer). With a little more meat on him, I would think he takes a permanent spot in the LB rotation (if not a starting/starring role).

- Cory Muse: a converted OLB who made the most of his talent after moving to DE by relying on his speed and quickness. While he recovers from that knee injury, if he can also add some muscle in his upper body, he might hold up well against the run, as well as returning to form as a pass rusher.

- Ryan Kennedy: he's already a monster, and his offseason work has to be designed carefully so he doesn't grow into an OL (odd that I would say that -- I supported that idea at this time last year). He showed this year that he can be damn-near impossible to tackle with the ball in his hands .... guys that size just shouldn't be able to run like he does. If he can add 10 (and only 10) pounds of muscle and maintain his speed, he could be nearly unstoppable.

- Devin Lowery: he came out of spring with a lot of hype, but he needs to be stronger to reach the levels we all hope he can.

Devin can't make plays without the ball he needs to catch it when his number is called. Reynaldo P. will be just fine a winner's heart. A.C. a pure player he will be a good player for SMU.Ryan Kennedy will be a helluva Mustang can't say he dosen't bring his "A" game :!: Corey Muse I don't think I've seen him play yet ,but I will keep an eye on him next spring :!:

So how long do the players take off after the season before getting after it again with Coach Faucette? Several players looked MUCH stronger this year than last, and if the guys can make similar (or even better) progress this year, the progress on the field will continue, as well.
