That one year where I think the conference went 1-6 with Iowa being the 1 just made me sick. I think that's when Illinois went to the Rose Bowl against USC.
That particular year was the year Michigan lost to Appalachian State then got blown out by Oregon, then rolled off 8 wins in a row and lost to ohio. Then beat Urban Meyer and the Heisman Trophy Winner Chosen one (Tim Tebow) in the Capitol One Bowl.... If you are thinking of 2008 New years time.. Around when we hired Rich Rodriguez and commenced to trying to look like SMU in 1991.
BTW Denard Robinson has SHATTERED all of Tim Tebow's runner and passer records since, and all anybody can talk about is how bad he is at QB. Denard better be standing up there near Zach next year in NYC because it's supposed to be about who the best football player is.... Last time that happened, Charles Woodson a Michigan guy won.
OSU is the best choice. We suck unfortunately but had we been the team that beat TCU. We could hit them while they are done and garner so much attention. Playing Purdue is safe, Northwestern and Illinois would just be forgotten games and most likely losses. OSU at its weakest would be the prime target. If we lose, we just blame McDermott, we are non-AQ, we werent ready. If we win, we claim AQ respect.

There is a lot of history between OSU and SMU that people don't know about and playing them again would bring attention to this history. Plus, it would be great to see them back in the Cotton Bowl.
When TCU was starting to get better, they went to a cruddy bowl and played a cruddy USC team that was down that year. They won. That was a PROGRAM win. A win that people look at in the media guide and say "Wow. TCU beat USC in a bowl." They don't care that it was a boring cruddy bowl and that USC was not very good and disinterested on top of that. It provided a springboard for the future.
The Ticket City Bowl offers SMU to get such a PROGRAM win. A win for the media guide. A win to tell recruits in upcoming years. A BCS win. A chance to prove themselves.
This is why it is so frustrating that June Jones has had such singular focus on the Hawaii Bowl (and as a result, his team does too). Not because fewer SMU fans can travel on Christmas Eve to Hawaii, but because it places the focus on WHERE we play, rather than WHO we play. 2009 was awesome. But a repeat of the matchup (even assuming we win) is not a program win, it is a vacation for the coaching staff and the players. And a matchup against Hawaii provides only Hawaii with the opportunity for a big, energizing program win against its former coach. ItWin and we're expected to win, so it's not a big deal. Lose, and it's a blemish.
I want to see Jones convincing his players that they WANT to play Ohio State or Illinois or an even more beatable BCS/name foe --- anywhere anytime, instead of convincing them that they want to play in the Hawaii Bowl against Hawaii.

Thanks guys. Since it did not have a state name is the school name that is why I thought it was private. I have always heard it was very strong in the engineering field.
