Nice! Good call.

You watch -- If SMU goes to the Ticket City Bowl and plays somebody in the Big 10, the tone of those voices is going to change.

And if it's Ohio State, then you bet your asssssss they'll be excited to play the Buckeyes.

Why wouldn't you be excited to play the Buckeyes? On your home turf, good luck getting that to happen again if you are the likes of SMU, unless you beat 'em. I mean Purdue,Northwestern or Illinois who really gives a chit, Michigan and Ohio don't.... But you get a chance against Ohio State.... You get ONE SHOT.... And I bet Zach would wish they could cut his injured foot of to play in that game. They are one of those teams that you dream of playing and beating, how many times have these kids seen the Bucks on National TV and said man, if we could get up against these fools.......

@MikeHumesESPN: Utah State has accepted an invitation to play in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl (Sat, 12/17 at 5:30pm, ESPN).

2 WAC teams placed, 1 to go (Nevada). Nevada gets the Hawaii Bowl berth if Hawaii can't get bowl-eligible. Shame we won't be going out there for a rematch in that scenario.

Why would you want to play nevada. The only worthwhile team is Hawaii and even that is boring. We have no reason to give a team like that a chance to beat us. Play a good team that people said yeah they should be able to kick the crap out of SMU. That way if we keep close or somehow beat them then its only good for us.

SMU 86 wrote:Kill is a BCS yes man as well IMO. He came from NIU where he was trying to get to a BCS game then when he gets to Minnesota (A BCS school) he says that the schools in smaller conference can't play with the BCS schools on a regular basis but only if were a one game situation. Also, Brewster gave him some talent as he has some good recruiting classes but he just could not coach them. Kill is running the spread isn't he?

If you're calling Kill a BCS yes man, then Todd Graham should be guity of the same thing as well as Dan Mullen as well as Joker Phillips and as well Derek Dooley. I thought the idea of coaches moving to better job situations was a way to better themselves.

Are you against that?

These coaches have a better perspective on this BCS vs. non-BCS move but what makes you think Kill was wrong. We'll find out a lot about TCU as it transitions into the Big 12. Even their fans have said they just want to be competitive and downplay conference title talk.

And since you decided to peruse the recruiting boards to check where Minnesota ranked under Brewster, did you also check where they ranked in the Big 10 with the exception of the class that was ranked No. 17 nationally? They were pretty much the same group. In Brewster's last two years this program was arguably the most undisciplined team in the Big 10. Look at the penalty and turnover numbers.

Kill also kicked his top RB off the team -- sound familiar?

Marqueis Gray was a highly rated QB but he went the way of Devon Moreland basically. His SAT was red flagged and he had to take it again and didn't get in until the following January. Plus, he was a mess mechanically. He started at WR when Adam Weber was on campus so he was behind even further.

I watched him against Iowa and while his athleticism is true his QB form is brutal. He needs to work with someone to really work on the position. Plus, he really didn't solidify his spot as the starter until that Iowa game.

I would consider Minnesota's offense akin to TCU - a multiple formation look.

I gave June a pass in 2008 because we knew he was changing things over. So what are we talking about here?

Should June ever be given a BCS opportunity and take it, we'll see how his finesse style of football plays out.

And you probably won't believe this but if Minnesota played SMU in anything, I'm pulling for my alma mater -- and I don't have to think twice about that.

Never lose sight of the fact that my loyalty to Minnesota is strong because my father went there. That is a relationship that I will maintain for as long as I live.

Jerry Kill is a great football coach, when he took over for George Ihler at Saginaw Valley, SVSU regularly made trips to the D2 playoffs. It's a shame that Jerry is having all these health problems. The guy can flat out coach football.

You went to SMU and your dad went to Minnesota?

Same here, strange coincidence.

I want the team to play in Hawaii because that's the only bowl they seem to care about. Nevada would be a better opponent than some others listed but ultimately I think the bowl gets punted by C-USA if Hawaii can't get bowl eligible and Houston gets a BCS bowl berth.

The feeling amongst the players is not necessarily that they want a trip to Hawaii and that they will only be up for a game there. The statement has been and will remain "anywhere but Dallas." In the old SWC days we would have given our left nuts to play a bowl in Dallas, but in those days playing in Dallas meant we were conference champions and playing in a New Year's Day Bowl. Bowl games are supposed to be fun and a reward. It's a break from your normal routine. The players--the guys who earned a bowl berth--do not get that by staying home. Playing in Dallas is more work for them and a treat to a largely apathetic and/or blue haired fan base. (That is not meant as a shot at the elderly fans who support SMU athletics. Just a statement concerning the fact that for the most part you sit on your hands during games.)

Even as a fan, I don't want another bowl game in Dallas. We could have beaten Army 70-0 last year and I would have walked away saying I did not enjoy the experience. The AFB was just a 14th game on the schedule last year--a glorified fall scrimmage. The only break in our normal routine was that we did not sit in our season seats. But at least the stadium was full. It really beat playing in a half empty Cotton Bowl as is likely to happen if we play in the Ticket City Bowl. And for the record, if Ohio State is slotted for that bowl, we will be playing Ohio State in name only. Those guys expect trips to the Rose Bowl. They don't give a rat's @$$ about playing against a CUSA team in Dallas.
