Empty Cotton Bowl, early start, likely to be cold as hell outside, plenty of better games on that day and there's a strong likelihood that an apathetic SMU team takes the field. Why do people want us in this bowl again?

Huh, you raise some good points.

If SMU gets invited to that bowl, maybe the Mustangs should just turn it down, sbsmith. If this an entitlement thing because they didn't get to go to Hawaii then maybe they should just do without. If they don't care, then I certainly don't.

I'm not saying I wouldn't like to go to that bowl. Just saying it was draw a significantly smaller crowd, both tv and attendance, than our AFB game last year.

Most every university in the Country-and EVERY SINGLE BCS PROGRAM-would draw more fans to the Ticket City Bowl in its own city than the 18,000 SMU fans at the AFB last year-but sad to say I'm not going out on a ledge and debate it because our fan base is among the worst in the country. TCU has been taking 20,000+ across the Country. But their alumnus have pride in their university that SMU fans are too busy to worry about. I bet TCU could put 35,000 in the Ticket City Bowl. They got 50,000 total attendance for BYU. Their fanbase is ready for prime time SMU will probably prove again they are not. If SMU sold a large number of tickets to Ticket City Bowl it would likely be based on donation drive and nobody would end up sitting in the seats.

I'd still care though because another bowl (even one as undesirable at the TCB) means extra practices and some TV time. It's not much but at this point in our resurgence we can't turn down a bowl. Just hoping Hawaii can knock off BYU.

Please do. I'm tired of the constant TCU word-BJs. Yes they are way ahead of us. Yes we should be emulating them. We get it.

I just wonder how many Purdue brings. Anyone know how well they travel? Not many Purdue alumni around DFW.

Perhaps the most important reason to go to the Ticket City Bowl over the AFB....Beer Sales.

I am pretty sure they sold beer in and around the stadium last year, certainly don't get that at the AFB.
Probaly won't happen...BUT...maybe it will!!

ESPNU is the TV for TicketCity Bowl...not very good. Only true cfb fans will go that deep into the channel guide to find a game.

TCB does suck for attendance, ratings, etc, but for the loyal and dedicated SMU fan: Its a treat.
AFB good attendance, decent ratings, average gain for fans
Hawaii bowl: Great ratings, great attendance (for only hawaii if they go, otherwise suck), and only a treat for players, rich alums.

Im pushing TCB, because playing a better opponent is better for us and lowers our risk of getting push down in the market since if we lose its to a Big 10 team. AFB is similar since BYU is decent. Hawaii will be really bad for our reputation if we lose.
