I had it while I was at SMU and was able to go through the Offseason workouts and lost 25 lbs. I couldn't even finish the .40 yard dash because I was so weak. I had a minor case and it took 4 months to get over. Had my spleen been swollen, I wouldn't have been allowed to do anything.

He must have a severe case.

Doesn't explain why a backup can't make an extra point or 18 yard field goal.
Michael Jordan plays ball. Charles Manson kills people. I talk.

Symptoms usually start 4 to 6 weeks after you are exposed to the virus and when you have it you are very infectious to others and your whole immune system is compromised.
Mono can cause the spleen to swell and is subject to bursting with any impact.
It can take several months to completely get over Mono and its symptoms.

Hover has to be out until Spring.

Wow I had no clue. I was diagnosed with it way back when, and I felt a little miserable. It was mainly just feeling tired all the time and it lasted for 2 months. I must of been fortunate with getting a light case of mono. I hope he gets better. Also, I really wish McDermott caught something (nothing too bad, but just enough) so we can use a new QB. I would rather put my trust in a 1st time QB than McDermott.

I once thought I had mono for an entire year. It turned out I was just really bored.

It can be really bad. Everyone has a different experience with it. The British call it glandular fever (GF), an infection by the Epstein Barr virus.
Olymic champion Seb Coe had a case of it and took a long time to get over....
Some people still experience it for many years, like 10 or so.
Some people have it for a while and then for years and years never seem to get past it by being sick every other week or 1 out of 3 weeks.
It can really be devastating.
When a cousin was of mine was in a drill team in high school all the girls got it drinking after each other (years ago). She was lucky to have gotten over it completely in a few months.

kohlskicking is a site I go to to read about kicking prospects. There seem to be a few good ones in the area.
I'm ready for all phases to be great too.

But have you ever been a finely tuned athlete?

in high school, i was at least as finely tuned as our kicker.

tuned-up doesn't count.

Find a Kicker before our Bowl Game

I like to refer to the three phases. I also like to look at the tape. After I look at the tape, I know if we performed well. I know if we performed well after Ive reviewed the tape.

I also like to use the word football. I coach a football team. A football team is made up of football players. Football players comprise all three phases of a football game. I learned this by reviewing the tape.

i think you're missing the point, though. I was making the point that mono is not something you just get over in a few days or even a few weeks. please don't make the mistake of accidentally defending alumni11 who seems to think that mono is nothing more than a cold. i regularly had a fever of 100+ for 10-14 days and was pretty much in bed for the better part of a month. i don't care how great you are in shape, you don't go from bedridden directly to a collegiate athletic competition.

I got that. I was just trying to have a little fun with you. I know how serious mono can be so I understand your point completely. And please, you can accuse me of a lot of things, but never accuse me of being a defender of Alumni11. That being said, I have to give him props on this thread because for the first time that I have noticed, he conceded that he was clueless about this issue and didn't get into any long, heated arguments.

My business partner's son kick for Alamo Heights HS and has taken private lessons from old Cowboys kicker Chris Boniol (sp ?) for quite awhile. I can see if he is available, maybe better than what I saw at the last game.
