Except that the one QB is 99% of June's job, his specialty, his responsibility and the most important component of his team. I am in no way in the "fire June Jones" camp but I completely understand people having concerns in year four. You're not a bad fan for scratching your head, you just paid attention to how he was advertised.

Thank you. :)

And how was he advertised? Hint: Compare his record at Hawaii in years two through four to his record here. He's ahead of schedule here.

Think there were big recruits lined-up for Hawaii when JJ left there? Probably. It didn't stop him.

I say he jumps if the money, praise and adoration are there.

Lotta sunshine today.

Don't forget how you felt watching USM, Tulsa, Navy, Houston and Rice games in Year Four.

When you are a QB guru in the run-and-shoot and you don't have one in year four, you're exactly 4 years behind schedule...3 if you cherish red-shirts, which June hasn't shown to be true at any point in his career. I thought he had someone with raw talent who he could work with in Bo (no improvement) and I thought he had someone who "got it" in Kyle (no improvement, but I think still capable) but despite their raw skills, neither has been groomed to be a run-and-shoot QB. I don't know who to put that on but it's clear who oversees that particular department. Godspeed June.

Offenses at Hawaii were much better, defenses are better at SMU. Not ahead of schedule because we still haven't had a 9 or 10 win season and there's no legit QB in place here yet. By the end of year 4 at Hawaii June had 9 + win seasons with 3 different QBs.

I agree it takes 4 to 5 years to build a program. But June was not hired to build a program, he was hired to revive a DEAD program that had been dormant for 20 years. I am guessing the first two years of recruiting were brutal. You go meet a recruit, tell them where you are coaching and the kid ask, Where? I think we are just now starting to see what June and his staff are capable of when it comes to recruiting. I am not a fan of the R&S, but I support June Jones and the miracle he seems to be creating on the hilltop. I am going to cut him some slack on the rebuilding time frame.

Wow totally agree, RnS is only fun when it works, this season hasnt been short of disaster. I wish he would have a second playbook thats design for more run and PA. It would just be nice to see something like that.

As I have said before, even Ron Meyer, recruiter extraordinaire, did not have a winning season until his fifth one here. And that was after succeeding a coach who had three winning seasons out of four.

Well, according to June year five for him -- unlike Meyer -- is going to be a total flop.
