Penn St is more an opportunity than it is a mess. There ain't going to be any change in admission standards like Ken Pye approved at SMU. They've got 90,000 fans-there is no reason they can't do better than when Joe Paterno has been sleeping through the last decade.

Mike Sherman will be fired as Texas A&M’s head coach either later today or early Friday morning, the American-Statesman has learned.
A prominent Texas A&M alumnus with strong ties to the Aggies’ athletic department said this afternoon that the decision was made today. A&M’s board of regents did not vote on the issue, but have discussed this since A&M’s 27-25 loss to Texas on Thanksgiving night.
"The decision was made today," the source said.
Sherman is scheduled to return to College Station from a recruiting trip sometime tonight.
"It will be done within 24 hours," the source said.
Texas A&M would owe Sherman somewhere in the range of $3 million to $5 million to buy out the remaining four years of his contract.
