Question about Recruiting and Coaches
Let me start by saying that I really don't want this to turn into a "I like JJ vs. Get him out of here" debate BUT, after reading a rivals article about which coaches are out getting which guys, I noticed that June is nowhere to be mentioned. I don't think this is something specific to him - most schools' recruiters are not necessarily the head coach - but why is this the case? Since it is the offseason (save a bowl game), why can the head coach not be out there aggressively trying to get guys? Is it because the other coordinators have already formed relationships with these players? Can someone with more knowledge address this?

Re: Question about Recruiting and Coaches
I think Head Coaches are severely restricted in making in-home or off-campus recruiting. I think its limited to one visit. That's what caused the controversy about Coaches-In-Waiting.

ah, that would explain it. Why such restrictions on HCs?

HC's are lazy. They got tired of Ron Meyer out working them, so they restricted themselves.SMU2007 wrote:ah, that would explain it. Why such restrictions on HCs?

also, b/c it would give an unfair advantage to schools in talent rich areas if a larger than life head coach could visit kids houses more often.
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally
Re: Question about Recruiting and Coaches
You can also shoot a movie, call it "The Blind Side," and have larger than life coaches make cameo appearances.

Head Coaches are CEO's that close deals. They don't do the groundwork.
