There's a story on Rivals that has this headline: Carney impressed with SMU visit.

When's he going to commit? He and SMU are a perfect fit for each other. Great school, near home, I think he's an SMU legacy, and he's a high-motor DE who will pursue, pursue, pursue.

Right on, AlexL. Sean, where else can your family and HS coach and teammates see (at least) half your games? Nowhere! There are a lot of Jesuit guys at SMU (isn't there a Jesuit guy joining the men's soccer team next year?), and you'll have a blast on the Hilltop. Take the leap, Sean - come on board!

Anyone know what the Rivals article says?
Rise up, Mustang Nation!
Go SMU!

the article basically says that although he rated SMU with "High Interest" before the visit he is even more excited about SMU after the visit. Plans to take one more visit to Tulane next week and then will likely decide.

That sounds a little thick to me. I have him just over 6'3, but as of a few weeks ago, I had him at 230. To me, this guy is a young Brian Young - the old UTEP defensive end from a few years back. Young wasn't the biggest DE in the world, and he wasn't the fastest guy, but he absolutely never stopped moving. Young was the walking definition of a "high-motor" guy, and Carney is the same type of player. Carney never had the size of the guy blocking him, but from the tapes I saw, it was the blocker who often appeared worn out by the end of the game. This guy goes as hard in the fourth quarter as he does in the first.

As much as I like this guy, I see him as an absolute redshirt candidate. Throwing him into action next year would be tough, as he'd face offensive tackles who often have 100 pounds on him. He's strong now, but it's a wiry kind of strength. He has long legs and arms and might still be growing - hard to say. Whether or not his height increases, he's going to add a lot of weight and strength. Watching him play, he sets up blockers for moves later in the game; with that kind of a cerebral approach, he will be meticulous in following a college strength/weight program. If he can add 15-20 pounds and maintain his quickness and stamina, he can be a very nice college player.
