any chance SanDiego States coach is tired of Cali wants to go on vacation to a real vacation spot and we can trade out Hawaii for San Francisco vs Ucla?

That's an interesting idea. The fact that bowl pays slightly more ought to make it an even more attractive option.

Lol...I was actually looking forward to going there to play some golf and enjoy the sun....have already checked prices and mrs ponyscott is/was going also. We will all have to watch the Bowl selection show tonight to get the news I guess.
A reason for the delay appears to be maneuvering on Pitt's part to stay out of Birmingham. This was on the Pittsburgh newspapers site:
A Trade In The Works? Not to St. Pete according to one report

There may be some good news with regards to Pitt's bowl destination.
The Memphis Commercial Appeal wrote last night that the Liberty Bowl would be Cincy versus Vanderbilt. The Beef Bowl accepted Florida International - a Sun Belt team -to replace the Big East.
That meant the Panthers are all but headed to Birmingham as there just are not many other options - but as I wrote the other day, Steve Pederson has been pretty good at pulling a rabbit out of the hat in these bowl situations and he is apparently trying to do it once again to get the Panthers into the St. Petersburg Bowl, I'm sorry, Beef "O" Brady's Bowl, to play against Florida International.
The deal would involve the BBVA Compass Bowl swapping Pitt for an opponent but here is the one snag in the plan - since a Conference USA team was already slated for the BBVA Compass Bowl and Beef Bowl, it can't be a one-for-one deal.
In other words, stay tuned for a few hours as this could get interesting.
Or maybe it could be just wishful thinking on the part of some people over in Oakland - either way it sounds like there are some last minute deals trying to be brokered in order to get Pitt out of Birmingham as the Panthers were there last year.
