you so your brilliant answer is SMU should fire the guy that has taken us from obscurity to 3 straight bowls and replace him with a guy that's never been a head football coach at any level?
Fire the guy collecting paycheck and not working hard and hire the guy working the hardest and keep an experienced crew around him..

Yes, that's the rationale being employed here. How does that feature work where you ignore a user and can't see what they post?

Ooooooh -- that'll show him. I guess he HAS to stay now, if you don't have confidence in him.
Everyone needs to tap the emotional brakes here. Coaches get mentioned with other jobs all the time. In addition to huge salaries, part of the cost of having a winning coach is rumors and speculation about other jobs.
NickSMU17 wrote:Exactly what you do short term...mason and klemm, add Rossley or another experienced oc. Let klemm bring in some young blood to recruit...
You got yourself a good staff, keep your recruits and don't lose any ground
Either Mason or Klemm gets the HC job (neither are remotely qualified), the other follows June. Not sure why Rossley would work for either when he's a hell of a lot more qualified to run this program than they are. Not sure what kind of staff Klemm can build with only 3 years of experience as a position coach at a mid-major. Would anyone worth a damn agree to work for him? Probably not.
They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

Do we know that ASU met w/ JJ in Dallas? I posted a link from a Phoenix guy saying they'd met with jones for most of the day- but that could have meant they were w/ Steinberg.
As for poor timing/poor judgment- that's your opinion. Fact is, a lot of big jobs have come open in the past week, and this is the time these discussions take place. Seeing what all JJ has done for the SMU program, I think he deserves the benefit of the doubt.

He won't do that to circle of champions....he better be careful what he bargains for
I'm assuming you didn't take many negotiations courses at SMU; hell, I'm surprised you even got in.
Take off the pony-colored glasses, spare us the lessons in morality, and look at the big picture- you're JJ, a West Coast guy, and a big Pac-12 program with lots of potential is interested in you and offering you more $$- what would you do? You at least talk to them. He owes it to himself. If you want someone who's going to coach here forever and never consider another job then hire Lance McIlleheny.

Mason is qualified. It's a perfect short term solution if they want to go that way.
As I have said before this is top non bcs job in country....lots of people want it....
I am just trying to figure how you don't stop momentum and keep this and next recruiting class

I know that you would negotiate with terrorist, which is essentially what jj has acted like this weekend.
