He won't do that to circle of champions....he better be careful what he bargains for
I'm assuming you didn't take many negotiations courses at SMU; hell, I'm surprised you even got in.
Take off the pony-colored glasses, spare us the lessons in morality, and look at the big picture- you're JJ, a West Coast guy, and a big Pac-12 program with lots of potential is interested in you and offering you more $$- what would you do? You at least talk to them. He owes it to himself. If you want someone who's going to coach here forever and never consider another job then hire Lance McIlleheny.
I know that you would negotiate with terrorist, which is essentially what jj has acted like this weekend.
I'm smarter than you by the way
Well, you obviously have no clue as to how coaching searches work. Again, if you want to hire a guy who's going to stay here forever then don't get a guy with a Portland State degree- were you disparaging the JJ hire when it went down back in '08?
All the divas on here will get butthurt if our coach leaves. The wiser ones will realize it's a consequence of being successful and that other non-AQ programs have weathered this storm before- TCU, Boise, UH, etc. Again, the fact that BCS programs like Arizona State are even interested in our coach is a testament to how far we've come in four years.
I used to get my panties in a wad about Head Coaches leaving-but those days ended when Ron Meyer took a Dash for the Cash. But its at least worth noting that the Messiah is apparently making a power play WHILE we are in shaky negotiations for BCS membership and DURING our biggest recruiting weekend in 25 years. Not too cool especially if you start listing all the concessions the C of C have made behind closed doors. But he'll leave if he gets a better deal-I just don't think a decent BCS team wants him or his Run N Fun offense
"With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris
When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.

The timing sucks, but that's the nature of the beast- look at all of the BCS jobs that have come open just in the past week.

You continue to prove how little you know....
He had his agent contact all the open programs only the one that is being led by his agent's search firm called back. He did it on the biggest recruiting weekend we have then told recruits he didnt know where he would be.
I have no issues in searching for better gig, but not at the expense of your current employer, and not for a bluff
NickSMU17 wrote:Exactly what you do short term...mason and klemm, add Rossley or another experienced oc. Let klemm bring in some young blood to recruit...
You got yourself a good staff, keep your recruits and don't lose any ground
Either Mason or Klemm gets the HC job (neither are remotely qualified), the other follows June. Not sure why Rossley would work for either when he's a hell of a lot more qualified to run this program than they are. Not sure what kind of staff Klemm can build with only 3 years of experience as a position coach at a mid-major. Would anyone worth a damn agree to work for him? Probably not.
Mason is qualified. It's a perfect short term solution if they want to go that way.
As I have said before this is top non bcs job in country....lots of people want it....
I am just trying to figure how you don't stop momentum and keep this and next recruiting class
The only way momentum doesn't get stopped and the RC stays together is if June stays. He goes and we're back at square one, no way any of the top recruits sign to play for some mangled amateur hour coaching staff. This program isn't in the right place right now to weather a loss like June Jones.
They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

I have no faith that Rivals is anything but a gossip sheet aimed at gullible and impressionable people who don't have lives and like to get worked up about coaching changes and recruiting rumors whether there is a kernel of truth to them or not. I consider myself to spend way too much time following sports, but even I don't waste time on those kinds of sites.

He basically sabotaged the weekend....
This is from the same site that said SMU was having "serious discussions" with the SEC, right?
Apparently the weekend wasn't completely sabotaged if we got one 3-star WR commit out of it- and I didn't need a Rivals subscription to figure that out.
Look, JJ may go to ASU. He may stay. I won't blame him if he leaves. My gut feeling is he stays. But he owes it to himself to do what's best for him. Like you wouldn't do the exact same thing in his shoes?
He is? Tom Mason has never been hired as a head coach at any level. He did serve as Boise State's interim head coach for 10 games back in 1996 while the head coach was on leave battling cancer. We have a proven winner, 2 million dollar head coach & you want to replace him with someone that has never been hired as a head coach at any level.

'Those kinds of sites'?... and what is this site? There is information on there that IS credible and timely.
