Hire Rossley and Flannigan

Post by Pony in SA »

If Jones has done this so you can let him go, or if he leaves on his own, you go hire Rossley as your HC and Flannigan as your OC. Rossley has HC experience and loves SMU, and Flannigan has OC experience and loves SMU. Both would embrace SMU and I bet not wear leis, long for Hawaii, etc. and have genuine feelings for this school. I have had pleasure of meeting and speaking with Rossley once and he told me that for a fact.

Also, both are familiar with run and shoot type system as that is what Rossley coached and Flannigan played in. You will need someone short term to work with the run and shoot kids we currently have and they could do that. You can then transition some to different offense.

I would keep Mason and tell him just keep on doing what he is doing.

I think it is ridiculous if Jones did this to expect him to continue much further here. My little contribution and season tickets is minor compared to the circle of champions and I bet a few of them can not be happy with these developments if they are true.

Perhaps, but short time to do something plus we need someone who at least initially will run a similar offense or have experience doing so to use the kids we now have. If we bring running style offense guy we may really be behind the ball first couple of years.

I like these 2 because they know a run and shoot system, but also because they like SMU and would actually at least act like they were happy to be here.

If we are going to recycle coaches we might as well go after Ron Meyer and get things going again!

Flannigan is young, and good recruiter with ties to Texas who knows many of the HS coaches. Considering our lack of recent focus on Texas and fascination instead with CA and LA it may be good thing for us.

I don't disagree with having Flanigan as OC.
