If June would have reached out to the Dallas community the same way he is reputed to have reached out to the island indigents then there might have been a lot more people in the stands.
Also don't understand what your interest is in our little school on the hill.
Oh, BTW you never did reveal the name of your son's company here in Dallas. To ashamed to say??

Tell them he wants them ALL... ALL OF THEM... to follow him to ASU or where ever and leave the "Death House".

yeah I dont understand everyone acting like SMU is such an attractive job. My girlfriend went to Southlake HS and while at the games with me has always commented how much more exciting her HS games were, how many more fans there were, and how she thinks Padron probably hates playing at SMU since his HS games were a lot more exciting. We have the worst fan support imaginable, and that is not going to pick up anytime soon. Nobody cares. As a current student I can assure you any time I have brought football up with other students, I realize that no students give a fvck about SMU football... Hell I have been going to games since I was born and even I find SMU games extremely boring. I myself left in the 3rd quarter of the UTEP game because the other 3 people I was with were bored out of their minds. Has nothing to do with Jones. Jones is the only reason it is even bearable to watch. I quit going to games for several years before Jones was hired. SMU fans golf clap and leave at the half when we are tied...That will not change. It would take ten years of consistent 10 win seasons to change that.

Jones inherited a bottom 5 team over the last 20 years with horrible fan support. Should give the guy 6-7 years to prove himself here. Cant believe the SMU fans that have b!tched about him.

We are going to sign our 2nd top 50 class in a row with him here too (if he stays). A lot better than the 110th ranked class full of all district guys.

I would imagine his staff doesnt like coaching here very much. I dont blame them. Just my opinion.

East Coast Mustang: There is nothing wrong with finding out what market value is, but to actively submit your resume to every opening in the country and do it in a public manner while you are hosting all of your top recruits for the year that very day speaks very poorly of him. I hope he stays on and gets SMU football to the next level, but you have to recognize that he made a huge blunder. He is on SMU's payroll, but is working for himself. Also, while I have no delusions of our place in college football, the SMU head coaching position is a better job than a coordinator job at any university in the country including Texas, Ohio State, Alabama, Florida, etc. We were able to hire Phil Bennet away from his defensive coordinator position at Kansas State while they were in their peak years and we were in our abyss so I definitely think we can do better this time around given our recent results, relaxed restrictions on recruiting, and willingness to pay well.

We don't really know what all June did and didn't do, we're going off an interent message board.

He has a right to look around, and with all of the turnover in BCS jobs this year, he'd be doing himself a disservice if he didn't gauge interest from Pac-12 schools. Remember, he's a West Coast guy (if you couldn't tell from the lei)

As for who we can hire, hopefully we won't have to have that discussion.

He has every right to look around and leave if that is what he wants, but based on his comments, he is definitely a hypocrite. His hypocrisy and the fact that he has made his sentiments public are what bother me because at the end of the day I think he will stay. Meanwhile he will have cost SMU and himself some valuable commitments from this weekend.
