Speaking of our alumni being the problem....

Post by 03Mustang »

If these JJ rumors (or worse yet, the Steve O rumors) are true, can we ban Bob Beaudine from campus? Who does this sort of thing to their alma mater?

If an Alabama alum did something like this....

I am in the recruiting business but I am not sure how executive search works in Sports. I thought SMU had retained Beaudine's firm (Eastman) to find someone for their open position and previous positions. I assume they paid them the search fee....So how does the same firm go and place him with another school?

Secondly, how could they do it on such a huge recruiting weekend - why not just wait till Monday. So strange all the way around..

this is what i'm thinking. besides it being your alma mater on top of it. Must be some limited contract period like 2 or 3 years that the coach has to stay before open season again.

any conflict of interest here? do search firms sign any sort of non-compete so that they don't come after coaches they just placed at another school??

would love to know.

Yes, must be in the contract for 2 years or something and open game....but for Beaudine to do this is weird. I know it's business but doesnt' add up.

that is the question we don't know the answer to. Typically you can't do that in the corporate world but it has been almost 4 years or so.

if I'm SMU (and my friends actually do call me smoo), I may want to review that search firm consulting contract...

Not my favorite guy. Very cheesy. Do not trust him a bit.

Maybe Jones' leaving has SMU's blessing. That would explain the unusual nature of the search firm's involvement.

At the very least it should make us want to avoid doing business with him in the future.
