If we do go after a new coach, we need to get alumni other coaches to stay in contact with recruits. We need to do our best to hold them in place, we need to hire the asst coaches as HC or find an up and coming coach that will do anything. We need a coach thats like Ron Meyer who can market any team hes on.

Oh yeah crap, my apologies. This is the result of studying for finals and pf.com. I mean our recruiters not alumni.
No problem, but I know many alums have bashed Dickerson and James for not doing more to actively recruit for SMU and the simple answer is that it is against NCAA rules to recruit for your university unless you are on the coaching staff.

NCAA bastards, lol, I dont see whats wrong if it was in a recorded meeting on campus or under supervision of NCAA official (or just some scenario) where an alum like those two could meet and just talk why SMU (that way no money exchanges or future contract or whatever)
Putting butts in seats shouldn't be the coach's job. SMU needs some PR people. In addition, we the alumni could have a few sessions to come up with ideas. For example, I have suggested a concert after games. That might not be one of the better ideas. But, it is an idea. At present, we are doing virtually nothing except griping. I hope Coach Jones stays at SMU for quite a few years. However, whom ever is the coach, his job should be winning games - not attendance.
I will be upset because I believed JJ to be an honorable man and not just like any other coach, that he came toSMU with some mission that included, as he said, to establish sustainable success. Now it appears that JJ is quite willing to put a nice dent in that vision by taking as many recruits with him as is needed to secure his new job. Shame on me for being such a sucker for thinking JJ was a different kind of man.

In my opinion you are wrong. It is the coach's job to put butts in the seats. He needs to win games and let the community know the team exists and he is putting out a product to been seen. Jones still promotes Hawaii. He has not openly promoted Dallas, at least not from what I have seen.
Yes, marketing and promotion is needed, but one of their first jobs should be to get the coach in front of the public to promote the team. All I ever see is Jones in a black shirt jawing with Dale Hanson. Nobody can even tell what team he coaches.
A concert after a game is a decent idea. Might possibly help one game. We need fans at all of the games because of our football.

We need a young and lively head coach who can build excitement around the program and get people to the games. Someone like James Franklin of Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt has attendance problems just like SMU does and Franklin is very proactive in getting students and alums to attend games. He sends them videos of him calling them out to the games. Jones doesn't do anything like this. Franklin can recruit too. Their recruiting class is in the top 20. Recruits respond to younger coaches because they can easily relate to them.
It has only been 4 years, should we give him at least 5 or 6 actual seasons before we starting throwing him out. We are still in CUSA. Why dont we just wait till we actually play games in the Big East then go get a coach, because we have that AQ chip then.
