Not the classic pony express blue unis - but the cotton bowl blue for Pitt. Great look.

The uniform we wore in the Cotton Bowl was the best ever. Why these color-blind amateur artists want to constantly change a good thing is beyond me. Bottom line: they have no taste!

Still like white jerseys with white pants the best, but I could get begind anything that helps JJMcD tell the difference between us and them.

So to respect Army and I do respect them, I did a Tour on loan to them, why in the livin' hell are Red White and Blue NOT good enough colors to honor Army and the rest of us? I mean if Camo wasn't an issue all of our services well I guess the Army and Air Force would wear them daily. The Navy and Marines would wear them all at the same time only whenever one felt like the other was trumping the other somehow and then we'd get in a fight. Then some Army dudes would show up and talk some (Gary Patterson) about the Navy and we'd all be in a fight with the Army guys. And the AF guys well they're pretty much smarter than all that.

I wonder if you all think this is even funny, but the members of your Alum that are vets probably do. SO Good luck to both teams (Tulsa and BYU) in the Armed Forces Bowl! We do it all for you so knock some heads off for us!

They keep their bowl jerseys - a blue one would be a fine souvenir. Do it!

Two points of clarification:

1. The jerseys we wore in the 1983 Cotton Bowl were special-ordered with the Cotton Bowl logo on them. Someone messed up and made them in navy blue, not the royal blue we wore at the time, and they looked GREAT!

(BTW, the royal blue we wore in the 80s was a slightly darker shade than the bright royal blue we've re-adopted.)

2. We didn't wear black in the Armed Forces Bowl to honor Army. That was just a spin job someone came up with. We would have worn black regardless of the opponent. We wore black because our coach loves to wear black and it was a "reward" for the players. They looked terrible and we played terrible.

One other thing: If we're going to wear a jersey to honor our opponent, it should be the dark mustard color of the Pitt helmets back in the Dorsett/Marino days. No question.

Longtime's got it right. Cotton Bowl was not the right color. Pony Express Blue can be seen here in this video when those damned Piggies were screwed by the Officials because they don't live in Texas.

Yeah, but that Cotton Bowl Jersey is the one that I recognize as SMU's best, might have been the best screw up ever. Now I know it was a screw up.... hmm, still was awesome.

Only thing I don't like about it is you guys looked too much like Auburn in them.
