What do you think he's leveraging for? The IPF will get done, so what else does he want?
Plus some folks on here have been saying he's not leveraging for anything this time. They seem to be more in the know.

pay increases for assistants.
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

Does anybody think maybe Klemm deserves a raise? Do you want to keep him?

What about Mason? Think he does a good job? Is he worth fighting for?

I don't know why he talked to ASU, but if JJ does a little politicking, or going to another school to keep getting his guys money and his team resources, so be it.

He's going to leave the place better than he found it.

It's SMU not Alabama. Teams are always gonna call and he is always gonna listen just like we would. Good God.

He said last year that teams contact him and he listens and it won't be the last time. Admission Nazi's need to get off recruits butts and allow us to get quality players in with no hassles and coaches will stop interviewing each year to send our administrators a message that they have options.

Here's what I kow about JJ when it comes to coaching opening.

1. If there is an issue with the higher ups, JJ will use leaving as a bargaining chip to get what he wants. It's like this, "either give me what I want or I will look elsewhere for a job". He did that for so many years at Hawaii, the administrors failed to take him serious, until some school with the $$$ came around.

2. JJ likes to shop his name around to make news. He wants his name to be mentioned with all the other good coaches. It helps his image and recruiting.

3. JJ KNOWS his offense won't work against the "big boys" of those AQ conferences. His track record has already proven that. The Georgia sugar bowl opened his eyes in regards to that. If he leaves, it would be to an AQ school in a tuff conference.

The bottom line here is: Expect JJ to remain at SMU for many years to come.

Are you saying that JJ would not have taken the ASU job if the ASU alums had not stopped them from offering?

Thanks everyone for the recap. Seems to be very polarizing right now.

I would love to have a coach that:
1) Can recruit and motivate players
2) Produces a winning product on the field
3) Sees the SMU head coaching job as the best in the U.S.

If I can only have two of those, I'm willing to give in on #3. We've had several coaches post-death penalty that were iffy on #1 and bad at #2, and that's a bad place to be.

What reason is there for telling recruits while they are on campus that he is looking at another job. He did not do that at Hawaii and he did not do that last year with Maryland.

I wonder if the fact it was discussed with the recruits will have any bearing on their decision to come to SMU even if he stays. I would think the recruits and their parents would be very concerned about him leaving at a later date and the stability of our fball program.

GO PONIES!!!

If you believe Armen as well as one of the CoC members on Rivals - they don't seem to think JJ was posturing at all...
