Alright then, now we know. The general is down for having a brief respite of success once every 30 You can call yourself an SMU alum, but can't really say you want what's good for SMU. Too bad you missed out on those soccer homecoming games.

Just to set the record straight, Mitch was actually on the Hilltop for some of those soccer homecoming games.

Mitch, you're my brother and all, but I gotta say this incessant tirade of yours is wearing a bit thin. I was actually a lot closer to the last coaching staff -- loved those guys, but the difference between then and now, top to bottom, is like night and day.

The only "fault" I can lay at the current staff's feet is not recruiting and grooming an A1 QB (or a stable of them) quickly enough. When we recruit a QB nobody else has offered and coach says "we saw this kid on tape" or "we had this kid in camp" and were amazed UT or Notre Dame missed this kid, they're just trying to keep fans excited about the potential of a recruit. They're trying to sell tickets. None of our current kids are blue chips and the QB in this offense is THE one irreplaceable cog in the machine.

Lastly, several of you keep ragging on JJ's "outdated" offense, and state how it's ineffective against top calibre teams. The fact is, none of us know how this offense will fare against top calibre teams because none of us have ever seen it executed with top caliber talent. Even the year JJ took Hawaii to the Sugar Bowl it was evident that the problem wasn't the offense, it was Georgia's VAST superiority in talent. Who knows how Hawaii would have fared if their offensive line could have slowed Georgia's pass rush down for more than a millisecond.

And that's a FACT nobody can argue with. The downside to having a reputation of being an offensive genius and a team rebuilder is that June keeps getting hired to fix teams that suck. He's never been in the position execute his offense with top tier talent.

Jones said he wasn't coming here if things didn't change with respect to that.

And one night right after he was hired at First and Ten Bennett told me a bold faced lie and said he would not have taken the SMU job if he could not recruit whomever he wanted to.

So you agree that Jones coming here was great for this program.

How do you know that Bennett wasn't lied to and told you that because he thought that was going to happen.

Mitch, look, obviously you and I disagree on Jones. But, outside of that, what is your gameplan here, on this board?

Few here agree with you, and even fewer would be willing to contact the athletic department to push for Jones removal, and even fewer would have the pull to make it happen.

So why the constant tirades? Do you think maybe people might actually be moving INTO JJ's corner as a result of this, regardless of the results on the field?

You think?!?!

I think Mitch and Nick will only be content if we hire a deacon from HPUMC who signs a lifetime contract at SMU with a non-compete agreement. Their naivete would almost be humorous if it wasn't so detached from reality

I believe strongly that Bennett had the players to go to a bowl in 2006. Restrictions or no, he got beat in 2006 by players he could have gotten into SMU and with players that could have played at most schools on the 2006 schedule, especially the conference losses that year and NTSU.

I am not saying the situation isn't better now. I am saying that if Bennett were a better coach, he would have sealed the deal in 2006. He didn't get it done.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Also, Mitch, why do I have to look at a picture of Minnesota's cellar dwelling football time after each one of your asinine posts?

SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

He said he knew and he could, and that he would not have taken the job otherwise. If he was lied to, he should have bolted when he found out.
