If taking a job at the best program possible was ever his objective, he would have stayed at Hawaii and eventually leveraged that into a Pac-12 gig, as opposed to walking into the worst football program in the nation. His legacy is at stake here, and he is legitimately committed to building a top-25 program.
That is a good point, and I know he loves and hates the challenge this has been. Im sure if fan support was reasonable and faculty werent doucheebags then he would be more intergrated with the program. If he kept Hawaii going, I think he might of saw similar opportunities like ASU, WSU, UCLA, but I dont think they he would of gotten anything better than that. IMHO WSU shouldnt be in the PAC, and I thought UCLA shouldnt either untill I saw they put up a decent challenge against Oregon. In general, other than USC and Stanford and I guess Oregon, I feel the PAC is about as bad as the Big East.

If this is his version, I am insulted that he'd think we as fans would buy into line. Just about the lamest spin I've ever seen. I'd be so much more happy with "I got a call from my agent that Arizona State had made an offer that I had to answer within 48 hours...I prefer to meet in person when these things get serious and so I agreed to meet with them" instead of the BS above.

The true story is that there are a handful of almost, if not totally, pathological people who post hundreds or in some cases thousands of vitriolic posts on this board, mostly critical of June Jones. You want him to leave or be fired, then you get upset if he talks to someone about leaving for a job at a school that at least has a little bit of interest among its much more sizable fan base and who actually turn out a the stadium on Saturdays every now and then.

so it's the Joe Pepitone approach? Of course, you have to know the NY Yankees from the late 60's early 70's to understand that reference

Jones should go. He's leaving the place better than he found it, and he's not going to ever see the butts in the stands that he wants to see at SMU. If the Circle of Champs is ticked at him, and he wants to leave, then it's best for all parties.

JJ is upset that SMU didn't embrace CUSA and will have to buy wooly black socks to coach his team in Cold weather
