New Big East Sagarin - higher than new ACC

Post by Wuba »

All conferences reflecting future composition, simple average of Sagarin ranks. Sagarin has 3 rankings, I used the predictor as it is the one he says is most accurate. Would not change the story to use the other rankings he has.

1) Big 12.......31.5
2) SEC..........39.8
3) Pac 12.......44.2
4) Big 10.......45.8
5) Big East.....48.7
6) ACC..........61.9

So, when you see people ripping the new Big East by saying it should not be AQ, just take comfort in the fact that it is miles better than the ACC according to Sagarin, which is a BCS component.

In fact, the new Big East is closer to the SEC than the ACC is to the Big East.

One issue most folks from the SEC would have is how is the B12 that much ahead of them. That would potentially compromise the validity of your arguement.

They should take it up with Sagarin, all I did was average his rankings.

Look at his ratings right now, he has Big 12 well ahead of SEC. Of course, his ratings reflect current conference makeup, but moving A&M (#11) frm Big 12 to SEC and adding TCU (#19) and WVU (#33) to Big 12 does not change their averages enough to bump up the SEC over Big 12.

Big 12 did very well in their non-conference games this year. The last few years those rankings had the Big 12 4th or 5th. It just depends on how your conference mates fare in their non-conference games each year.

Big 12 also lost Colorado, so that probably put them over the edge!
