Trust in CoC
Now that June has shown we CAN improve (thanks, June) and the administration has seen the school did not implode into a murderous rapeland with no academics, the CoC will be eager to spend money and go to the next level. Expect a splash hire!

Re: Trust in CoC
I do, and the resources are greater this time around. We have so much more to sell.
Re: Trust in CoC
I really hope the CoC can pull another awesome hire off, because quite frankly I don't think we have much room for regression. We'll be going to the Big East, but that conference may not be around forever, so we have to make the most of it.

Re: Trust in CoC
the extension was set to go through 2015 I believe, and with the $2 million buyout that ASU will owe us, I think its safe to say we could offer at least 4-5 years at $2.5 per.

Re: Trust in CoC
Cant we just charge ASU a premium for JJ cancelling his contract... I mean we need the cash flow to throw up a for sale sign (Need: great recruiter, team builder, game winner, marketer, but not a baby).

Re: Trust in CoC
I suspect CoC is hungry to continue the success.
JJ had the gravitas to get the academic/entrance requirements changed and while his offense wasn't exciting, we now have 3 consecutive bowls.
A new HC will bring his assistants with him, along with some of his recruits.
This could turn out to be a positive for the program.

The Board of Trustees want athletics to be a vibrant part of the campus. The Big East is coming. They will commit to making this work.

Re: Trust in CoC
It is a whole different ball game from 2007. Why would they let SMU take any steps backward after they already invested so heavily? Onward and upward is the only option.

you will learn this over time: don't worry. these guys are just like us except they have a lot of money. they will spend.

Re: Trust in CoC
Not to rain on anyone's parade, but the COC was not created to perpetually fund coaches til the end of time. Smu is expected and must carry the burden of actually paying their head coach at some point. Also, just because rich people have a lot of money doesn't necessarily mean they will just donate it into perpetuity. Fortunately, the money differential between a non aq conference and an aq is significant. It's something smu is more than aware of. I even briefly spoke to RGT about this on the vard. We were laughing about how quickly things can change getting actual money from our conference.
I know I know ...Future of the be uncertain etc etc. Not the point of this particular post.
