What if a new HC brings in better recruits than the class we anticipate having now?
That is highly improbable because It is too late in the recruiting season to bring in better recruits. We have to maintain what we have and see if the incoming coach likes what we have.
If our recruits can leave for another school, why can't a coach we hire to be our HC bring his recruits with him to SMU? Why is this a one way street of talent departing only from SMU?
Of course, I'm assuming that our next HC will be currently employed at a university and not someone we drag out of retirement or off of television.
