Time for a new marketing gimmick?

Postby Diamond Girl » Thu Dec 09, 2004 4:10 pm

Now that Bennett's contract has been extended, is it time for the athletic dept. to come up with a catchy marketing gimmick (like Mustang Mania) to try to build excitement for the upcoming season (and maybe influence any recruits that may be sitting on the fence)?

Instead of a yellow ribbon, get red ribbon decals that say "I Support the Mustangs in Conference USA!" or round decals with the Diamond M in them, similar to the "W" stickers, with a Texas flag attached to the Diamond M.

We need all of the gimmicks we can get at this point.

Maybe they could make a deal with the students where if you attended every home game you get to skip one winter final, and if you attend every SMU game within the state you get to skip two. Haha.

I don't think the extension of Bennett's contract is a very good marketing tool in light of his lack of success.
