I completely understand.

Why? TCU was there in 2000. Francione had left the building, right after swearing that he loved Ft. Worth and TCU was a great place to be. He left for a "big" school. We felt like we'd made no progress at all, and were back to square one.

Guess what? We survived. No, we prospered. You all have seen the results. We won the Rose Bowl 10 years after Fran left us.

And you can too.

You guys have the best recruiting class coming in since the Dickerson days. Nearly all 3 stars, with a 4 thrown in there. You guys compete. Hell, you embarrassed us in Ft. Worth this year. Plus, you're about to join the Big East, which will attract a quality man to the HC position. You're in a rich recruiting area, and having an SMU degree is a ticket to the good life.

I remember reading one of your comments on this board to look west and see what the Frogs did to bring their program back. I'd say you're right on course to do that.

Good luck next year and in the Big East.

WRONG, we are on the Titanic and there are not enough lifeboats, it is over. SMU is doing away with football and the Ford will be turned into student housing and classrooms.

Seriously, thanks for the words Frognosticater. SMU will be ok, it does hurt after all the hope JJ heaped on the SMU nation and now you feel like you have been **** on. That is the way of college sports. I was a JJ supporter and what bugs me the most is the way this has all been handled. Look forward to the next coach and hope he can take us to the next level. Also looking forward to the bowl game and next season.

I'm afraid of what's going to happen to our recruits now that JJ is leaving. /sigh

Frognosticator is right on! Improve quickly with defense and special teams. This is a blessing except for timing. No buyout, mustang fans had gotten to know June and staff and know they were in over their heads on the offensive side except for Klemm and Suan. terrible in-Texas recruiters. Defensive staff was progressing although its hard when you have an idiot putting your defense in bad field position with poor play-calling. June is smart in that he knew his years were numbered and he had an opportunity to take advantage of one more contract for him and his buds. there is a reason Hawaii didn't try harder to keep him. He does have some loyal friends though. Great opportunity for SMU! Now is no time to go on the cheap. We need a coach who will bring in good coordinators and staff and have the want-to when it comes to recruiting. No more of this laziness and the little bleach-blonde going into Loisiana bringing in non-qualifiers or bad characters and telling everyone Texas high school football and its players are over-rated!

SMU will take a hit no doubt but hopefully we will be able to retain most of them

AZU has a number of recruits and can add only so many. Mainly the CA recruits I suspect.

Agreed, but most of the good ones seem to come from California.

Frognosticator, many thanks for your post, although I have always been convinced that JJ was not the ultimate solution. Unfortunately we probably do not have a GP on the staff to go to. You are dead right about needing a strong defense. However, we hired a defensive guru (allegedly) and youall almost hired the same guy and that was a mistake. We do have an opportunity here to move up despite a step back in recruiting. Hope we make a good choice on the next guy but it is a crap shoot. As I understand it hiring GP was a close run thing and who would have predicted that it would turn out as well for TCU as it has.

I think you guys should hire from within. Klemm worked miracles with recruiting in California. Why don't you give him a shot?
