There must be something seriously wrong with me
I cannot muster a single bit of anger or hatred towards June Sheldon Jones and his staff. None.
I am thankful he did what he was brought to do. And, if he stays, I am thankful for that too.
And, to me, he's been a breath of fresh air to our stuffy, uptight campus. He's like Mike Leach in that sense.
What is it with human nature that we must crucify?

I harbor no ill will to the man for any of this, but Stallion's right, he's poisoned the well now and can't come back.
I'd kill for a Nobel Peace Prize.

The well may have been poisoned, but how did June do it? It seems to me that blame for that might go to ASU, but not June...

Yes, nice Vacation reference. So if this is so simple, somebody explain to me what June Jones has done here. To me, he had some ongoing conflicts with certain elements at SMU that were just enough for him to consider, after having delivered the turnaround he promised, other job opportunities. Due to no fault of his own, it was on, then off, then on again, then off.
Where am I wrong? What has he done to deserve such vitriol and hatred?

Oh June can come back-that's the problem-he has pissed in the well, destroyed our recruiting momentum but we are contractual bound to him-I just wish he have enough self respect to go back to Hawaii because he is not wanted here or ASU. He could be first Head Coach booed for leading team on the field at a Bowl game. I have never booed a player in my life though so it would have to be a unique situation where his name was announced. A bad ending is now inevitable

Again, I understand the bad situation, but where is June's culpability? What would you a have had him do differently?
If this is such a slam dunk issue, why is no one able to answer this simple question?

My take: if he wants to seek other suitors, fine. But you don't do it on the biggest recruiting weekend for your current employer in a quarter century. If you intend to leave, fine. But you don't steal the spotlight from your current employer on the verge of making a major announcement, and then make the whole day's news cycle on SMU about whether or not ASU really wants him or not when it should be about the Big East. I also think going through these motions without at least giving your current players the courtesy of a meeting to discuss it is pretty [deleted]. He came to SMU to do something, and maybe he feels that he has done it. Thanks for that. But he showed Hawaii a helluva lot more respect in how he parted ways than he has shown SMU, and that is where the frustration is. It was simply badly handled from the beginning.

Not tell choice SMU recruits to start looking for apartments in Tempe?

Re: There must be something seriously wrong with me
There is evidence all over of him telling recruits he's going to ASU. There was even a switched commitment. Surely something in the contract allows for dismissal without buyout for a guy actively working against SMU.

Re: There must be something seriously wrong with me
But most if not all of the recruits "signed on" to play for June. Is it possible they switched commitments just to ensure they followed him? Is it possible June Jones did everything right by SMU? What assumptions are you making?
And regarding the timing thing, what would you expect him to do? Ask ASU to wait? And did you want him to go ahead and bring the kids here while ASU was waiting so that he could recruit then to a school he was surely leaving?
