Why make an announcement to your staff if nothing is signed?

Also if he verbally informed SMU of him leaving. Is that a formal resignation?

Sign first then tell everyone you are leaving... June Jones is an genius :?

For looking at another job? He'd never have signed a contract that prohibits that.
