Background issues for JJ?

Google lily kahumoku june jones. This is what some are saying was a factor in not hiring a JJ. I have never heard of this before.

Ha! I've bit my tongue for 4 years on that one. You know it never crossed my mind that it could keep him from getting job-but there are several alleged incidents with students tied up with the Crash and his divorce which take on new importance with the Penn St and Syracuse situations

I researched this when Jones was hired. It was noted by many that the girl in question is/was living in Lubbottock when Jones took this job.

In email exchanges back and forth with Hawaii people that were on this board and a few I met through work 4 years ago , I was assured that alcahol had nothing to do with the crash. I have driven late at night through Hawaii and I can see how people would fall asleep at the wheel. The only thing I have to compare it to is driving on the highway at night in rural Florida- it feels like you are in a spaceship, it is so dark.

As for the chick, JT will recall that we discussed this back then via PM. During the secret coach thread, there is a picture of her that was posted by JT. He might have deleted it. Again, the Hawaii posters that were on here (remember Dwan?) assured me it was nonsense.

The girl (a volleyball player, if I recall) dropped out of Hawaii for a year and moved to the states. somehow that turned into June got her preggers and she dropped out to have the kid and then came back. There was a lot of chatter that he was taking the SMU job to be closer to her. That is nonsense. Some Hawaii people, I have found, like some people in Europe, don't understand the concept of distance between cities in the US. They don't get that it takes 3 hours to fly to the coast from Dallas.

Maybe there is something to it, but I was repeatedly assured there wasn't by people that had all the reason in the world to diss the guy. Fact is, I didn't really care.

Will this more public disclosure be used as additional grounds or pretense forJJ's dismissal? After all, we don't want to tarnish our reputation.

This was definitely out there when SMU hired him. I remember when it first broke years ago. It wasn't a huge story what with him being in the middle of the Pacific.

It's 1. completely unproven from everything I've seen, and 2. it's not like he sandusky'd a high school girl.

It's just not that scandallous.

Apparently ASU thinks differently!

Perhaps time for a second look or should every one just give it a Penn State/Syracuse response?

I think ASU is using this as an excuse more than anything. Make no mistake, it was all about the boosters not wanting June
