Didn't Dana Altman take the Arkansas hoops job a few years ago, and then go back to his previous job (at Creighton) a few days later?

Bobby Cremins famously agreed to coach at USC-east, before changing his mind and returning to GT 3 days later.
Not sure that's what happened here though. I suspect this deal was never quite done for one reason or another.

Yes-reminds me of the Pat Sulliven situation at TCU-he was left begging for offer that never came. TCU fans can fill in but he lost all credibility after his two year dalliance with SEC teams.

Glen Mason had second thoughts after leaving Kansas for Georgia. Think he actually had a presses in Athens them went back. Left for Minnesotta the next year if i recall correctly...same thing June will do if we let his a** stay around.

There is another one, but I can't think of it. It is on the tip of my tongue. I'll think of it.

In these cases sounds like the coach changed their mind, not the prospective coach. June can't say "oh, decided that I really wanted to lead SMU"

Yeah, this June-ASU situation looks like the boosters pulled a power move.

Precendent for what? News media breaking a story and then it doesn't materialize?
I thought we were going to the SEC?
Yawn.

if memory serves, I recall Coach McCartney from Colorado flying to Dallas in 1989 and agreeing to coach SMU on its return from the DP. On the plane ride back to Boulder, or shortly thereafter, he backpeddled and decided that Colorado was for him. We then hired Forrest Gregg.

I believe he's talking about a time when a coach gets offered a job and he accepts only for it to be pulled shortly after

Damn you are right. And none of us got it. McCartney accepted and called the next morning and backed out.
