1. What moron would leave a head coaching position here to be a defensive coordinator at Notre Dame? You must have a pretty low opinion of Coach Bennett as a person if you think he'd basically admit to failure here and quit on what he has started, basically to demote himself back to a defensive coordinator's position. No one with any drive at all would make a give-up move like that -- not to mention the paycut he would have to take.
B. That doesn't even address the fact that Bennett had two more years left on his deal here. Unless he had an out clause that hasn't been mentioned, he wasn't going anywhere unless we let him.
III. With the performance of SMU's D over the past 3 years, I'm not sure how much in demand he would be as D coordinator either... especially at $800K a year.
