Suprise player for 2002

I made it up to Dallas last week and got to see the Ponies practice twice, and saw Saturday's scrimmage. One player who has barely been mentioned at all, but who I think could be a really nice surprise this year, is Don Ieremia-Stansbury. I watched him in conditioning drills, and he was flying -- had no idea he was that fast. And in limited action Saturday, he also seemed to be around the ball all the time.

We all know he's got the genes for greatness - his brothers have done really well at UTEP and UCLA. And word is that Coach Bennett likes what he's seen from Don so far.

Speed and genetics don't necessarily translate to success. Sure hope that in this case, it does.
