Todd Graham was apparently out pimping himself after being @ Tulsa for one year.

Its just part of the industry.

Recruiting is way up, the big east will help that even more and hopefully he gets a good qb.

Realistically if SMU had a good QB we would be 9-3 if not better

Hey KTP- glad to see your still posting here. I was afraid our move to the BE would drive you away and I wouldn't have anybody to harass. :(

It worries me that he wanted to leave, but the guy is still our coach. He has a good class coming in. I will continue to see positive things here...

Our big money people & athletic director apparently don't have any pride in this institution.

What are they supposed to say right now? This thing busted out while they were at the Big East announcement celebration. RGT, Orsini, Ford and other CoC members have not had one minute to discuss the situation

How about "At this time, June Jones is the head coach at SMU. We are assessing the situation and no further comments will be made on the topic at this time."

I suspect they did discuss it and that for public comments, they agreed to say JJ is our coach, blah blah blah.

I can't imagine they are happy with this situation, privately.

It is going to be interesting to see if they (CofC and the admin) do anything or they just sit back and smile while they get stabbed in the butt again. '
I am not sure that I can support JJ in any way in the future unless it is a contribution to get him out of here. He did too much damage to our university for me to forget.

Where is Samuri Stang? Wouldn't he say something like "now is not the time for revenge?"

If this recruiting class is as good as touted, we need them to believe that Jones is here--at least through February.

Many on this board were worried about the recruits leaving if June left. June's staying, but many don't want him to stay. Either way, if he leaves the recruits leave. Don't we want these recruits to stay?

February is just a couple of months away.

Huh.

Sounds kinda like "Jones is our coach. He has our full support."

Read in-between the lines. Nowhere is any support given. In fact, "we are assessing the situation" means the opposite - there is no support until the university "assesses the situation."

Yep.
It's surprising some here would put up with this crap. Jones cannot be trusted after this.
This does NOT happen "all the time." horsesh&t.

via aus10fromhous10:
Orsini: "I had lots of good coaches calling me" about SMU football opening, when rumors of June leaving came up

Orsini meets w/ June tomorrow. "I'm not gonna hug him." "I'm gonna tell him that he needs to step up and in his own words show a commitment"

Orsini wouldn't said academic restrictions not still a problem. Said all schools have challenges. If coaches dont like it, they can leave

---
Hope they don't back down and as soon as a good future HC appears they drop June like a bad habit. I support a HC's right to see what else is out there but June Jone accepted a job offer to coach at another school and was already taking recruits with him. He didn't just interview to see what else is out there, he took another job. Not to mention the whole spiritual bs he talks up about being at SMU. Wh interview with other schools is this was a calling from God? Must be polytheistic. June Jones has revealed himself to be a [June Jones] and nothing more.

Bingo, [June Jones] June. Can't imagine someone personally putting up $2mil+ to pay for a HC only to have him accepting jobs behind your back and then trying to crawl back when it fails. We are back on track winning, we are in prime recruiting territory, we are moving up with better recruits, and our out of CUSA and into the BE. Better coaches will want to come to SMU. School has shown it has made the necessary changes to have a winning team and is willing to make more changes if needed. IPF should be here soon. [June Jones] June.
