Ever know that guy that stole his friends girlfriend, only to have her cheat on him and go somewhere else?
We hired a merc to get the job done. By any reasonable standard we are markedly improved (though the deal was for 5 not 4 years).
I too was hopeful he would marry us, but he is a merc after all.
Are u seriously offended?

The problem we have is though he wanted relief from his buyout is he going to give smu relief from his now so we can move on? No.
Note turner said he would be our coach "in 2012."
This is a bad situation. Even if he really wants to stay (say ASU made him a $4m offer, he can't turn that down), he got a serious Gary Barnett problem now (NW).

Seriously
It's a terrible situation and it could get worse....
Let's just hope we can hold it together short term...
At risk of being bashed it would be a good time to name klemm asst head coach and groom him over the year to takeover..

Re: Seriously
I have no problem with coaches using SMU as a stepping stone. We are who we are.
What I have a problem with is the manner in which it was done. He owes us the same courtesy that he gave Hawaii. We sat for months with no coach waiting for him, ruining a recruiting class, so he could coach his bowl game. He wouldn't even interview until that was over. And I don't expect this situation to be the same because it isn't like we are playing in the Sugar Bowl. However, I do expect him not to interview during a huge recruiting day. I do expect him not to use SMU resources to recruit for another school. And I do expect him to give SMU the courtesy of not announcing he is leaving on one of the biggest days in several decades at the school when we are joining a BCS conference.
That is what I have a problem with. The total disrespect he showed SMU in this process, when SMU was more than willing to do whatever it took for him to show respect to his previous employer when he left to come to SMU.
