Would Kansas go for ASU's sloppy seconds?

Post by Mitch McConnell »

Somewhere I saw a link to one of those ridiculous "sports web sites" proclaiming that KU would take a run at Jone now that the ASU thing is no more.

I didn't even care to open it so I couldn't tell what it said.

My response is, "Take your best shot KU and good luck.''

His ego may not be able to handle it since he would be running second to Bill Self and hoops. That's the way it will always be there.

Doubt KU could afford it after buying out Turner Gill to go away. But I say, take your best shot hawkboy!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!!!!

And KU can afford it:
1) they knew they would have to buyout someone anyway unless they are going after coordinators only
2) they are making $22 mil a year from their Big 12 tv contract
3) they are one of the few schools that make significant money on basketball
4) they have some financial issues with skybox sales for football, but are well aware they need to improve their product to get people in the stands in order to solve that problem.

They may not be able to afford it. They have to pay 6 million for Turner Gill's buyout and they would have to pay 2 million for June Jones' buyout.

Gill buyout was privately funded by donors.

Aware of that, I'm just not sure if KU supporters willing to pay additional 2 million for another buy out. Could be wrong.

Fixer-upper, low expectations, sounds like June's type of job

Too cold-not enough wooly socks. Seriously, I truly believe he wants a warm weather home for his crazy offense that stalls in a cool, stiff wind

$2m isn't anything to the program. It's just an ugly search that isn't going well. Their top candidates keep disappearing.

You are the same guy that said 2 mil wasn't anything to a PAC 12 school....turned out it was something

I think you would find ku wouldn't want to pay it either...they may both have it but it public cash in a very political time, not as easy as you think
