It makes me ill to even post this with all the insanity of the past few days, but the Lawrence, KS newspaper is speculating this:

http://www2.kusports.com/weblogs/tale-t ... -am-is-ku/

More on the talks between June Jones and Arizona State breaking down... At this point, it'd be crazy not wonder if Jones could re-emerge as a candidate at KU. At this point, anything's possible.

http://www.azcentral.com/members/Blog/D ... ler/150269

One thing we should all have learned from the June Jones situation is that anything is possible. Remember, two days ago, there were credible reports of him saying he was happy at SMU and wasn't going anywhere. Then, he got to the freakin' board room at ASU with a contract in front of him and negotiations broke off.

So now what? He's either happy again or going somewhere else. You just never know.

Stay tuned...

Any coach worth hiring comes with a buyout. Unless they are only looking at other fired coaches, coordinators, or retired coaches. They were aware of that when they fired Gill and will have the money ready for it. Kansas has donors. It isn't like CU where they couldn't afford to fire Hawkins.

I think you would find ku wouldn't want to pay it either...they may both have it but it public cash in a very political time, not as easy as you think

$2 mil may have only been a problem for ASU because of who they were hiring. Boosters being against the hire means pocket books closed up when they heard the name.

ASU's bigger tv deal is new. They don't have the money from that yet.

No idea about their donor support. You would assume they have some wealthy alums, but how much they give to the athletic department is another question. KU has committed boosters. Probably due to the basketball program, but they have enough people committed to the athletic department to fire a coach and hire a new one when they need to.

i can't see June at Kansas either. ASU or UCLA jobs were very good fits for him. In fact, i think thats the way he and SMU need to spin this. that there are a handful of jobs that June considers very attractive. He chose to apply for those jobs. Let the healing begin. Or he can go to Kansas. Up to him. I have had issues with his QB decisions, both benching J Willis and Padron this year. Nevertheless if he will do his best for SMU every day that he is here, i will support him. All relationships can be fixed if people choose to fix them, simple as that.

The problem is he is an old man with a huge ego and a long track record.

I simply don't see him changing.

2012 could be a real disaster.

After what has gone on the last four days, I just can't imagine he would pursue that job.

Well if it is a disaster June will be lucky to get a job at NTSU. Maybe Hawaii would take him back?

June is toxic for any school right now, with the possible exception of Hawaii.
