This has not been a good day to be a Pony.

Guess that visit must've gone well. Kinda lends credence to my other post under the "SMU looking for QB" thread, responding to BCS schools that have it easier to recruit than SMU.

On the contrary, it's a great day to be a Pony - thanks to Chase Smith.

Sorry to see that he wanted to get away from home. The kids in Dallas ALL seem to want to go away from home. This begs the question, however, why we don't recruit New Orleans, Kansas City, St. Louis, and Chicago harder. These cities also have some good players that want to get away. They aren't too far away that the expense of recruiting them is that extreme. Besides we are already sending academic recruiters up into these areas as it is. I came from St. Louis to SMU in the early 70's and an academic recruiter was a big reason I considered the school. I know that a lot of SMU's population comes from the upper midwest so it only makes sense to recruit some of the football talent from these areas that might like to go somewhere warmer in the winter. And don't tell me how superior Texas football talent is. We have loads of it on this team, but still have gotten beat regularly by kids from California, Oklahoma, etc.
