Jones was actively looking for a new job, right?

Post by mr. pony »

With Ernst and Beaudean, right?
All he's saying now sounds like schools came calling outa the blue and he simply listened. I'd like to know: has he stopped his active search now? Is Ernst & Beaudean still searching for him?

His comments in today's DMN are particularly galling: "I didn't really know how bad it was when I got [to SMU.]"
Right back at you, brah.

So what. All coaches have their name in the hat at all times.
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

Really?
I say we make an exception for Papaya Boy: stop your search or hit the door.

When SMU gets to 12-0, the calls will come - with or without a search team.

This is the same thread and question that has been repeated for the last week. Grow some hair on your balls and move on. June was unhappy with things and he failed to move on. Hes a professional and should continue to perform his duties for the foreseeable future.

What we're unhappy about is how unprofessional he is....how can you say he's professional?

I haven't seen it asked yet.
Is he still actively searching?
What's wrong with the question?
He said - yesterday - he planned to finish out here in Dallas.

for the record, he wasn't actively searching, his agency was.

and don't be fooled. every agent is actively searching and chirping in his client's ear. Jones is a desirable target with better options out there. He chose to listen, and it is hard to blame him.

I have head hunters call me on a regular basis. I usually listen to the most reputable ones, and I have even gone for interviews (not since I took my current position). If I didn't do this in the first place, I wouldn't have my current job.

Get over it. Move on. This is about as productive as the continued bashing of Jason Garrett. I think every "June Jones offended me" opinion has already been posted.

Totally agree, but regular people can also be fired for looking for other jobs. My little sister lost her job once because her boss found out she APPLIED to grad school. She hadn't gotten in yet, hadn't accepted yet, she had just applied, and they forced her to resign. Had another friend get threatened to be fired because he updated his resume on Monster and the company he worked for was tracking its employees' accounts.

Not about personal offense. Jones is bad for the school. How's any recruit going to believe him?

It's turning out to be more than just an interview.

I really don't want to talk about it anymore because the big dogs will make the right decision, but the defenders could feasibly be making arguments for a guy that has defn done some things a civil suit and dismissals could be warranted. It is looking like there might be some damages. I don't think it will get to that point but it's not good.

Either way it's not in our hands we need to figure out how to get behind smu and the kids playing. Those guys are bummed and so are some of the coaches that got blindsided by jj's actions

Except for those of us who are independently wealthy (I'm not) we all have our ear to the ground at all times don't we? In the case of a football coach in a town full of people who demand success every week I would imagine it would be insanity not to be networking at all times.

And the key to that is, that job does not necessarily become a desirable destination for someone else.
