Re: June faces the music Monday
I'm going so I'll see first hand. I would be delighted if June was asked some tough questions, and even more delighted if he gives honest answers about his goals and the stability of this program.

Can someone PM me with some reasons why I should join in the lynch mob? And, no, June being mean to you at an alumni function doesn't count. Neither does the fact that he doesn't run a standard Big Ten offense, wear precious clothing from Culwell and Son, or drive a BMW.
Thanks.
No hate -- and none of your strawman reasons have anything to do why he should publicly answer questions.
And no need for the "lynch" rhetoric.

ill be there. I dont support him or any other coach - i support SMU. Healing this situation short term is a must. Others will take care of the longer term.
i look forward to hearing your rant. I am sure it will turn the situation around with its incisive brilliance.
I don't rant a$$wipe and I am not real impressed with your insightful posts, since you have more of an interest in attacking SMU fans for venting some pent up frustrations rather than the coach who abandoned the team and your school on our most significant day in 25 years.
A+

Actually, I'll be on a flight at 8:30 a.m. So deal with it, pal.
Ok Mitch sorry...I was just kind of jacking with you.
I dont agree with about 1/2 of what you post, but I think you have good intentions.
It appeared to me you soured on June early on because when you met him he
wasn't Mr. Personality. I always thought that was kind of petty of you
especially if the guy is taking us to bowl after bowl after the drought.
However I respect your opinion and you are a good writer.
But as the "informal pack leader" of the what somebody described as the folks
"having an axe to grind with June before this happened" I was looking forward
to seeing what you would do at the luncheon.

IPP -- My problem with him goes beyond that he's not Mr. Personality. I have some fundamental issues that listed through other threads.
I would have had no problem getting up there and diplomatically asking him a tough but appropriate question. I've done that before.
I have no idea how he would have answered it, but it would have been interesting to know.
I just hope that this episode has provided some clarity about what he really wants to accomplish here and it he's willing to put forth the effort to do it.
Tell me where you're going and how you intend to take this program from competitive and bowls to competing for championships consistently. That's the real concern I have.
What's the plan?

Re: June faces the music Monday
Tread - my suggestion that you look at past posts is due to the fact i have been pretty ciritcal myself of June. You accused me of being a brown noser which about 10 seconds of research would have refuted.
I just think after the last 48 hours of venting we can start thinking about what we DO going forward (not what we keep saying). I dont think a public bicth session is going to do anything more then the last several hundered posts have done.
Human nature is what it is. Most people who are hot about this will not go since it is easier to make hot-head statements on a message board then in person with 300 people watching - if they go most will keep quiet. There will also undoubtedly be a loony tune statement/question that is embarassing and deminishes the real gripes we have.
Other then that i would not expect much new information. There will be lots of political window dressing followed by a group hug - and some promises we cant depend on.
Hopefully we might get some insight on what seems to be three legitimate gripes - 1) you could have waited 24 hours so-as not to screw up our B.E. announcement - expecially since you arent even going. 2) Why was there suddenly some ASU commits from SMU recruits when they dont even have a coaching staff and nothing was even done yet? 3) How can we expect recruits to get excited about committing this year or in the future when the the perception is you have one foot out the door.

Your last paragraph is excellent.

Here is the Plan Mitch... Jones will tell you we are recruiting very well and still making significant depth progress. We still need to get the franchise QB on the field to get where we want to go. Right now we are skinny at the position and believe me if I could give birth to Brennan 2.0 I would have scheduled delivery three years ago. It just don't work that way...
As for my commitment to SMU, my goals have not changed. I personally feel like I have performed well under the circumstances at SMU although I felt last year we should have won ten games. This year we had the same opportunity. Several factors worked against us. As a team, player Injuries and lack of Team Support contributed to a funk. The injuries are bad luck but in the middle of our third winning season the Team and I expect more from SMU students and alumni in the way of fans at the home games.
Yes I have been disappointed with something I can't control and was open and looking for relief possibly from ASU. But that is behind me now and I feel this unfortunate affair that got out of hand is history and I am looking forward to Pitt and another bowl victory for the Team and SMU.
As far as what I wear and who and what I love and call my home, I am what I am and that will not change. I plan of focusing on the team and I hope you focus on getting us some fans in the stands.
