I'm going... Any expectations regarding crowd size, ours, Pitt, bHam locals? Does this game come close to selling out? Just curious.

I've been to a monster jam. At reunion arena. It was probably the first and last time someone has taken a limo to The Jam.

Legion Field seats 70k so I would expect this game to look like a Rice game or maybe a UAB game with 20k or less

As much as I complain about attendance, I've become part of the problem. Jan 7th is my and Mrs CP's 29th anniversary and she's already said the SMU game in B'ham is not how she expects to spend that day. It ain't over yet, but not looking good for my making what is less than a 500 mile trip for me. I can only imagine the price I will pay if I drag her to B'ham and a cold front blows in and the game is played in a 40-50 degree rain...because I would insist on attending (just as we did in the Navy monsoon a few years back)

any advice?

the only way i talked my wife into it was to stay at ross bridge golf resort. Told her to do an entire spa day on friday while i play golf and that selaed the deal CP. Rain or shine, we will be in our seats come saturday!

Of course, this was no anniversary weekend, let alone 29 years! Congrats on that. We've only been married since November. I should ask you for advice!!

Pony in SA and I think we can do it. We'll probably fly in Saturday morning and come back Sunday.

Actually, I'm pretty excited about going should it all work out.

There is no doubt that whatever possibility of fans going to the game has fallen exponentially. They dont want to spend and take time off to go see a team that underperformed ridicuously, and a coach and his crew that wants to bail. Only the hardcore fans will be going, so im guessing at best 5-7k SMU fans... at least really hoping. Even before this debacle, all greek students (around 3,000 (50%* 6000)) have to be here for recruitment week. <--- But this is a big big problem thats easy easy to fix. For some reason, Greeks want to have December into Spring as recruitment week... I never understood, but the argument is so people can go around and see the different frats/soros. I just say move the big recruitment week to August. People dont mind losing 1-2 weeks of Summer break but they do in the winter. Also it will help our bowl attendance, maybe not by huge amounts, but its such an easy fix that its like "Who doesnt want 50% more cash"

Im obviously trying to stay upbeat... Im hoping that some push for people to go will happen. Maybe not since its going to be very hard to convince people to watch McDermott, or June Judas Jones coach our team.
