3 Star Juco LB coming to SMU!

Postby Ponymon » Mon Dec 13, 2004 10:41 pm

According to Rivals, 6-3, 225lb inside linebacker Clayton Cox from Garden City C.C. has committed to SMU over Baylor!

Dallas is a long way from Weston, Kan., where Cox is originally from.

“I never thought I would go from the little city to the big city,” he said. “I’m excited.”

Clayton Cox comes with the reputation as being one of the best linebackers in the Jayhawk Conference. Great job coaches!

I bet it is, because I was told 6-4.5, 225, 4.45 - but that came from a friend of mine who's been known to stretch things a bit. But in addition to being tall, he supposedly has real long arms, very good strength and wheels! I think Stallion's right - sounds like this guy can motor.

Great news.
The attitude dictates that you don't care whether she comes, stays, lays, or prays. I mean whatever happens, your toes are still tappin'. Now when you got that, then you have the attitude.

I've heard him described as tall, fast and mean.
I can not wait to see this kid suit up for SMU.
Welcome to SMU, Clayton!

This is just another shameless sign that SMU is not committed. If they were really committed to academic integrity, they should eliminate JUCO recruiting.

I assume you're kidding, but I don't think that less than 100 scholarship players on a football team can determine the academic reputation of a school.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I see NOTHING wrong with making exceptions to admissions/transfer standards for kids with exceptional talent... as long as we believe they can pass our courses. If the next Beethoven, Picasso, Sinatra or even the next Kathy Bates were interested in studying here, I wonder how any of you would support denying that person based on subpar grades or test scores...

Besides, I miss competitive football.
