Tweets at the Coach Lunch?
I like Klemm and hope he stays, but his departure will not be the end of the world. No coach is made by one guy on a staff. If Klemm goes, he will be replaced. Klemm is not the second-coming.
Having said that, June's display was making the wrong point. It isn't who identifies a player or who offers the scholarship; it is the guy who builds and maintains the relationship. His slide didn't show that.
June would have been better served leaving the projector at home and saying what e said before getting the slide out: "coaches leave, and if a coach leaves, I'll go get somebody better. "

Why don't you just stop posting and let everyone assume you are an idiot rather than continuing to remind everyone?
I am pis.sed at June and think we are in some deep shi.t now in a "worst case scenario" losing Klemm and keeping JJ...but get real buddy.
Hope we can maintain at least some semblance of this recruiting class, and that we are able to start a serious search for a head coach over the next 12 months.

Well, at SMU at least. Attacking Klemm to save himself? Bad sign. We are dealing with real men with the CoC and BoT who want to get SMU to the top, not a bunch of Copelands who will allow SMU to be embarassed in this way. I don't fault Jones for going after a better gig, but the way it happened was a disaster, and there is only one solution.

IF AK is gone, he will be at UCLA, and he will be taking the best players from our recruiting class...
Maybe we can negotiate some sort of non compete...but moreland and holloway 2 guys were counting on, those guys are goners...

Re: Tweets at the Coach Lunch?
I probably know the answer to this question, but I want to throw it out there anyway.
How much of a voice does SO have in "recommending" assistant coaches? I can't see JJ bringing in someone like a Phillips because of JJ's ego issues, but if SO were to say "JJ, let's look at Phillips and bring him in", would JJ have to oblige that request?
Or if SO says "I want X to come in as o-line coach and recruiting coordinator". I'd guess that JJ would listen to that, but what if JJ wants to bring in someone else? Who wins that battle?

I think circle of champions will have to make a decision tomorrow, JJ or Klemm...I think it will be a close decision and I think you saw JJ make his argument today>
Only difference is AK has been making his argument day in and day out since he got here...
I know which way I would vote...

Thanks to everyone that provided info for the out of town people! Pretty much what I expected, but nice to hear nothing shocking happened. Much appreciated.
On the Klemm front, hope he stays, but if his departure leads to moving on to our next HC, I'll think i will be ok with the trade-off.

He would have to get one of the top 25 recruiters in the country to do better. Somehow looking at all his other hires I think it is a low probability that he does that in my opinion.

we need three new recruiters on staff right away. i predict we don't lose as many recruits as you might expect.
subject is tired - time to move on and have some fun at the game.
You should have introduced yourself. I would have liked to say hello. Hopefully we can chat at the bowl game. I like to have had a laugh at our little war of words.
Did you ask as question?
