You all defend the guy...how can someone be so negligent with the best 2013 qb recruit in the nation....
so let's devote all our energies to the hopeful pied piper recruit. ask Mike Shula how that worked out with Tebow. I obviously don't know the whole story but to have a melt down over a kid who hasn't played his senior season yet and to assume there is no alternative? It occurs to me that if some H.S. Jr and his family want an IMMEDIATE reply and send multiple messages (I know I love the guy who calls me 2-3 times while I'm in a meeting), I begin to wonder if I'm getting into a high maintenance situation.
Do you have something that would be priority number 1...guy is best recruit we have had since dp...he Should not have to call more than 1 time....one of the lemmings should be his butler...

You obviously missed the point. We lost our prized QB recruit because of PonyFans, not the coaches.
IT'S SABOTAGE!
for the record, I did not say that we lost a [deleted] recruit because of PF. I said that kids read this and don't know how to tell the difference. Some of you are acting like children that have no business sense.
I've had deals all but closed, the other party looks at another offer and completely brings months of work to a standstill for weeks, months or longer. We have still come back to the table to get things done regardless of hurt feelings.
Crying like little babies accomplishes nothing. Put your big boy pants on and lets beat Pitt!

I wasn't referring to you. The original poster said we were all sabotaging the program with our message board posts. Apparently it needs to be all sunshine and lollipops on here for the recruits.
don't think it needs to be sunshine on here. i have too much fun laughing at chicken little.
but, the thought that recruits and their families don't ever see this is a little short-sighted. every couple months, someone pops up posting saying they're a parent of a recruit or player. the mental diarrhea dogpile probably doesn't make them think higher of the program and its fans.
I'm not telling anyone to stop. I would ask people to keep it in mind.

I never said that it has to be all sunshine, but the negativity around here has been excessive lately. I am tired of hearing the same tired rants over and over again! Like I said in the original post, the alarmist posts and negativity do no good and could only serve to turn away an impressionable person (be that a fan parent or recruit). I never said that it was the reason for us losing recruits but you are blind if you don't think the negativity will turn off many people. I am not even disagreeing with any of the complaints, but I do think they need to be aired to the proper channels.
Fair enough. And I was really just giving you a hard time. "Sabotage" seemed about as over the top as all the sky is falling posts.
Give people some time though. This would be a big deal no matter what school it happened at, and even though coaches look for new jobs all the time, I can't recall one where the offer got pulled (at least so publicly) and the coach had to come back--particularly on a day when it trumped the announcement of a conference move, for a school that had spent decades trying to come back from the death penalty. Add on top of that half of the fans were already ticked about the late season implosions the last 2 years....I think we can give everyone a week to vent.
