The message ECU is sending is all wrong. While a clever marketing ploy (in theory), it is reinforcing that they are not going to a bowl. Terrible message.

I wonder how many they sell...certainly would be a bit embarrasing if they sell more "tickets" than bowl-bound programs. I feel bad for their fans.

As was said previously, I am sure this is targeted to their equivalent of the Mustang Club. I think it is safe to assume that all of those people know they did not make a bowl. I can see your point, but I think the hook of challenging them to "buy" more tickets than the CUSA bowl teams is a strong ploy that is likely to work given their attitude towards being left in CUSA.

I went to the ECU game there last year. Day after Thanksgiving, rainy and I believe the team was already eliminated from division title. Oh, and let's not forget they were playing SMU which is not a traditional rival that their fans have a history with. Those are all the exact types of excuses we make for poor attendance. They had a mostly full house.

I remember seeing a poster in a restaurant advertising the local radio station's 3 hour pregame and 3 hour postgame shows. I have not spent much time in that area, and perhaps there is nothing to do, but I was impressed with the commitment they have to the team.

I understand your interpretation and I don't disagree with it. Hopefully one day SMU will become an athletic program that Dallas will support. I think having the basketball game at the field house off campus is a step in the right direction.
