Him being an Army brat, he probably has one hell of a sense of devotion to his team. But man what if it cost him millions of dollars? I guess I have to question just what he's thinking, risk of injury is just too much.

1983 Cotton Bowl wrote:To each his own, but. . .

1. he has his degree

2. he just won the Heisman

3. he is projected as a 1st round NFL draft pick

What more could he possibly want to accomplish in college? Is he really going to defer a multi-million dollar payday so he can come back and play for free for another year?

I just hope he does not get hurt. I hope he signs one of those football insurance policies.

Apparently RGIII Coming Back...

Boy, to me it is a no brainier. Why give the scouts a year to pick you apart a la Matt Leinart? I think he ends up in top 5.

Or Jake Locker, that dude cost himself a boatload of cash. He went from probable #1 overall to 3rd round.

mrydel wrote:A Baylor poster came on another thread we had concerning the Heisman and said that RGIII was going to enroll in Law School at Baylor and play again next year. There was also something about him wanting to work out in track maybe for the Olympics or something else. I do not recall it all but he seemed pretty certain of his return.

I am sorry I am too lazy to try an find the old thread.

Baylor Law School is on a quarter system. If he graduated early, he could half of his law studies done even before he goes to the NFL, or if he graduates in May, he could start law school in the summer and and have four quarters of the nine done before he goes to the NFL. Other NFL playerers have taken advantage of Baylor's Law School quarter system. It allows to play in the NFL and still get two quarters a year to graduate.

Locker was the #8 pick in 2011 draft, he signed for 12 million dollars. The #8 pick in the 2010 draft signed for 40 million dollars (23 million guaranteed). Bradford was #1 overall in 2010 and got 72 million dollars (50 million guaranteed). Locker lost out on a ton of money by going back for a meaningless senior season.

From all reports of those who know him, he would be the one to come back out of commitment to his teammates.

That being said, it would be foolish...

1. possible injury

2. couldn't be thought of much better than he is right now

3. NFL careers are short lived and this is essentially giving up on one of them and the associated $ that come with that...

He won't drop below Miami, that's for sure, and might not get past Minnesota. Right now Miami is tied for 4th spot in the draft with Redskins, Bucs, Browns, Jags, and Panthers. Most of them are in desperate need of a QB.

Only teams with potential Top 5 picks that probably wouldn't take him would be the Rams and Panthers. Maybe Tampa, but if I were them, I would still probably take RGIII and trade Freeman.

Quite a difference from Cam Newton. Whatever he does, a class act like has already been said.

Seems to be a class act all around. Probably respectfully just waiting until after the bowl gain to announce. Baylor is not looking at a possible BCS championship run next year, has won everything he can for his school. Can't imagine any athlete contemplating returning for a senior season that has to outdo a Heisman winning season while a full time law school student. If he returns he should be going for an MBA.

Don't know where I got the third round thing from all I knew is when I think of losing a ton of money for no good reason at all, I think of Jake Locker. I mean he really screwed it up because he will never EARN a fat NFL contract but he sure did give one up. He should have got fat paid before he bombed out in the league. Maybe because IMO he was third round talent........
