SMU’S HOPKINS NAMED WAC MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
DENVER - SMU guard Bryan Hopkins has been named the Western Athletic Conference men’s basketball player of the week for December 13-19.
Hopkins, a junior from Dallas, Texas (Lincoln HS), scored 26 points and grabbed nine rebounds in a 77-43 win over Baylor last Thursday. Hopkins was 10-of-15 from the field, 5-of-10 from behind the three-point line and added five assists and four steals in 30 minutes of play. It is Hopkins’ first career WAC Player of the Week award.
The other nominations were senior guard/forward Jermaine Blackburn, Boise State; sophomore guard Ja’Vance Coleman, Fresno State; senior guard Donell Allick, Louisiana Tech; sophomore forward Nick Fazekas, Nevada; senior forward Michael Harris, Rice; junior guard/forward Jason Williams, UTEP; and senior forward Jarius Glenn, Tulsa.
